Identity Safe and Windows 10 Edge

Here is my problem. I recently downloaded the Identity Safe extension for Edge. With one exception it works fine. That exception is this, I open Edge for the first time, say in the morning. I log into the vault and all is well, then I close the Edge browser and go about my business, then I start Edge again and I have to login again to the vault. With IE11 once you open the vault it stays open no matter how many times IE11 is started. The vault stays open until you either manually close the vault or restart or shutdown the computer. Is there a fix for this already or is it something that can be added in the next release? Constantly having to re-open the vault in Edge is a real pain.

Thanks,

Robert

Re: Identity Safe and Windows 10 Edge

Hi Robert and welcome to the forums,

That is normal and expected operation - this also happens on Firefox.  The newer Norton ID Safe extensions operate in this manner.  Once you close the browser (Edge/FF), you are logged out of your Vault and must log in again when you open it next time.  Not sure why Norton went this route - they must feel it is safer to do  things this way rather than let the Vault open as they do with IE.

I'm sure others will comment.

Re: Identity Safe and Windows 10 Edge

I brought this up a week, or so, ago. I hope this decision is reversed - unless, of course, it poses a serious risk of a breach.

Re: Identity Safe and Windows 10 Edge

FWIW ~ just me.

I save persistent login cookies for non-sensitive sites e.g., yahoo webmail, Norton Community, etc., ... so, I'm always logged in to frequently used non-sensitive sites.
My password manager is set to auto-lock in 300sec.
I'll usually only open pass-manager for visits to sensitive sites.

Just saying.  When Norton vault is open.  Credentials are de-crypted locally, stored in memory afaik de-crypted, readable by me, readable by not just over-the-shoulder.....but, readable by any vulnerability.   Granted, if your machine is compromised or you visit a compromised site.  You're compromised. End of story.

I feel safer with my door locked.  Just me.

Seek first to understand, then to be understood.

I liked it much better when it would stay logged in even after the browser is closed but would lock if I log out of the system.

Re: Identity Safe and Windows 10 Edge

A Norton employee has acknowledged this request and has noted that Norton is looking at more control over the log out time.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Identity Safe data.

Thank you all for responding, I'll just wait and hopefully Norton will add this as a "feature" for Edge.
