Identity Safe as a new account OUTSIDE of the Norton Security customer product

My own Identity Safe and its account is still LOCAL, and I understand that Identity Safe  (the 'cloud' version) is supposed to be free.  Would any complications happen if I make a separate Identity Safe account in order to test-use Norton Identity Safe password manager?

Still do I need to create both a separate Norton account and a Norton Identity Safe online Vault?  Do I need to use a separate email address for it?  How does this work?

Laptop, Toshiba Satellite
Windows Vista, s.p.2
Security & Protection:  Norton Security v22.12.1.15
Favored Installed Browers: Opera v36, Pale Moon v27,
Other browsers avaialbe: Slimjet v11, Comodo Ice Dragon v52, Firefox v56, Internet Explorer v9

That is what I did. I used a new e-mail and created a new Norton account and then setup Identity safe with that e-mail. You have to login to that new account to open your new vault.

Just a word of caution g_cafe_c,

You may encounter either or both of the following creating the Cloud Vault:

When opening your vault:

After opening either Vault:

Whatever you do, select Keep Both - DO NOT SELECT MERGE!  By selecting Merge, you will get rid of your Local Vault.  I would set up the cloud with just a few manually entered log-ins and at a later time if you so desire, you can populate your Cloud Vault by Exporting your Local Vault to a separate file and then Importing that file into the Cloud Vault.

Let us know how you make out.

Re: Identity Safe as a new account OUTSIDE of the Norton Security customer product

yank,

I think your advice is interesting but difficult to understand the last section of your post.  I wish to understand what you said more thoroughly.

On the other hand, this advice completely misses what I want to know.  Your images show what I believe appear when reaching Vault through Norton Security or some such Norton product other than JUST Identity Safe.  Forget Norton Security/360/Internet Security/Antivirus.  I am interested in understanding Identity Safe OUTSIDE of any other Norton product.  Like NO NORTON NOR SYMANTEC PRODUCT IS INSTALLED ON the machine; but I want to know if I can "install" Norton Identity Safe, or install the browser extensions.

Actually, the computer might have or might not have Norton Security, etc., installed.  But what if I want to create and use Identity Safe either way; and make maybe a NEW Identify Safe IDENTITY?

Recheck my first post on this topic.  I wonder if I can install JUST Norton Identity Safe, possibly on a computer having NO other Norton products; but will this interfere with anything?  I might want to use a NEW Online Vault.  I am not sure what to do about email, username, password, to make sure no conflict happens with any other vault - whether online or local.

Further, do I just find the right Norton ID Safe extension for like Firefox or Pale Moon, or Opera 36, or IE, or Edge, and that's it for the software; or is there some other INSTALLER to use to get JUST Norton ID Safe?  On Windows 10, Google Chrome is my favorite browser.  (Actually, on Windows 10, the ONLY browser I want to use is Google Chrome.)

Re: Identity Safe as a new account OUTSIDE of the Norton Security customer product

Installing Identity Safe in browsers is now independent of any Norton Security product. But it is not the same as the old stand alone version of ID Safe.

What you need to do is download the ID Safe extension in each browser's add ons/ extensions settings. No separate ID Safe program to download/install. Only browser that will not work this way is IE, as it still relies on the older style ID Safe included with NS products.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Hello

Is this new independent I D Safe restricted to Firefox, and Chrome and not be available to the other browsers mentioned although they are related browsers?

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Officially,  Firefox, Chrome and Edge have the new extensions. Some Firefox variants will work, but I have no experience with those.
