Identity Safe Toolbar

The identity safe toolbar in my Chrome browser will not appear.  I have signed in/signed out, reconfigured, etc., etc., following all "help" advice on the Norton site.  It will also not activate in my Edge browser (keeps trying to load but never gets there). I am fully up to date on my Norton product. HELP!

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Hi @dryort,

Could you please check and confirm if your Norton Security Toolbar version is 2018.13.2.22?

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Click More
  3. Go to More tools > Extensions.
  4. You can see the version number next to the Norton Security Toolbar.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Yes, I have Security Toolbar version 2018.13.2.22. But my question is about the Identity Safe Toolbar; I seem to have 2 versions of this enabled--version 5.2.1.2 and version 1.0.5. I have just disabled the 1.0.5 version and refreshed but still no toolbar.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Thanks for the clarification, @dryort.

A latest version of Norton Security Toolbar (2018.13.2.22) for Chrome has been released to address a few bug fixes. With this update, the Norton Security Toolbar will be hidden by default. Even though the Norton Toolbar is hidden, it will still perform all of its functions such as Safe Web, Anti-phishing, Scam Insight processing, and show block pages.

To enable the Norton Security Toolbar:

On the top-right corner of the Google Chrome browser, click the Norton Security Toolbar extension.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

I have clicked on the Security Toolbar symbol and the graphic above flashes quickly on and off, but no toolbar. Will Identity Safe still automatically add my saved passwords to website logins?  If so, the toolbar is not so important to me.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

I also have this problem.

Opened computer this morning and Security toolbar has disappeared!

Also disabled and re- enabled  in extensions, but still no toolbar.

I have the version quoted above.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

My comment overlapped Admin's reply.

My concern was access to my vault, which is now available.

However, I feel that this is one of the more used items, so that hiding it in the new version was a bit of a silly thing to do.

There should have been a notification somehow that this was the case!!!

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Problem now is that the toolbar extension does not appear in the top corner of Chrome although it is enabled.

I did get a momentary flash of the full toolbar  at the top of the page, but now everything has gone.

Toolbar is enabled in product settings but has gone.

How do I get it back in ANY form?

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

I have to say that I find the updated (hidden) version of "Norton Toolbar"  totally unsatisfactory in Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, and have resorted to returning to Internet Explorer (which continues to work as before). To make matters work some saved logins no longer work (other than by manual typing) at all in some sites such as American Express. This defeats the purpose of having Norton Identity Safe. We are encouraged to create elaborate passwords for important sites such as Internet Banking, but their use by me depends on having the Norton Identity Safe logins working fully, without the need to physically type in login information.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Radio silence from Norton Administrator since my question 1 1/2 hrs ago  suggests that there is a problem with the "new version" of the Security Toolbar, i.e., no Identity Safe Toolbar. Hopefully they will get their stuff together and fix it quickly.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

I'm adding my two-cents worth to reinforce the fact that multiple users are having the same problem. The icon for my identity safe disappeared this morning (literally), resulting in what initially looked like the loss of all of my many logins.  Turns out some of them still work; some don't. As with other users, clicking on the Norton box with the check mark in it does NOT result in display of the toolbar (a box flashes and then disappears as others noted). If I can't see the toolbar, and especially the icon for my vault, how can I make changes or close the vault? Hiding the icon as a default doesn't work for me and, I suspect, for many others.  A poorly rolled out update, for sure. Please fix! Thank you.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

What I have found is that after clicking on the icon for the Norton Toolbar, I have to restart the browser. After the restart, the Toolbar is visible again.

Lack of a response from the Admin might indicate that their work day is over. It's just a possibility.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

With reference to peterweb's comment.

The icon has disappeared from the top right corner!

Toolbar is enabled in extensions, and I have toggled on and off to no avail, as well as closing and restarting the browser.

Why do IT "experts" not get it right? (And I am not just thinking of these Norton ones)

Are you referring to the icon in Mohan's post above? If so, try uninstalling the Toolbar extension, restart your computer, then reinstall the extension.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

I confirm this morning that, despite the continued absence of the Identity Safe toolbar, the feature itself appears to be working as it is a) automatically filling in my logon and password information where needed, and b) asking me if I want to save logon info for sites where it has not yet saved this info.  Yes, it would have been infinitely better if Norton had advised, when the update was done, that we should expect to see the toolbar removed.  Perhaps they will reconsider.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Thanks for including the weblink in your comment; despite my search of the Norton website yesterday for info relating to the Identity Safe toolbar, and its disappearance, the page you attached was not offered. Oh well...

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

There is an announcement about the new Norton Toolbar version at the top of this forum board.

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-security-toolbar-201813222...

For clarity, it is not a Norton Identity Safe Toolbar. The Norton Toolbar and Identity Safe are separate extensions for the browsers.

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Thanks Peterweb I thought I was seeing things. I'd say if that icon has a green line under it, its working

Re: Identity Safe Toolbar

Thanks peterweb. My original post concerned the Identity Safe toolbar, and Mohan responded by asking what version of the "Norton Toolbar" I had, and I think this confused the matter. In any regard, it is apparently not true that one can choose to have the toolbar visible as I have tried what Mohan suggested and it does not work. And, unlike the Norton icon with the green line under it to indicate that it is active, there is no such indication associated with the Identity Safe icon.
