Identy Safe Account log in box closes

On one of my PCs when I try to open Identity Safe either in Firefox of Norton 360 a dialog pops up to log in to my Norton account. I click it and another box opens. I enter my email and password. The second box closes, but the first remains and identity safe stays closed. I'm quite concerned this may happen on my other 2 PCs and I won't be able to access things like my bank.

A patch has just been issued to fix similar issues.

I was having the same problem, but when I checked the desktop Norton shortcut, it worked fine, I was logged in.  I rebooted & then it worked ok in the browsers.

Liveupdate did not help. Popups as follows; Get Started, Communicating with the norton server, and Sign in. After signing in the Get Started popup remains and the vault is still closed. It doesn't matter if I launch identity vault from Firefox 39 norton toolbar or Norton 360 premier. Not too happy.

Re: Identy Safe Account log in box closes

Well the identity safe problem that had inexplicably gone away has reared it's ugly head again. Two days now identity safe gives me the 'Get Started" popup asking me to sign in... I sign in with email and password on next popup box... the box closes and nothing else happens. The 'Get Started' box remains. So much for accessing my online banking....

After about half a dozen restarts finally got the correct sign in dialog. Very annoying.

Hello Doyna_Yar

Sorry about the issue you are having. It has been reported to Norton. Here is a process which seems to be working for others with this issue.

Open up your Norton product. Sign out of it on the upper right side where it shows your email address. Then close your Norton product. Then close all browsers that you had open. Open up a new browser window. Open up your Norton product and try accessing your Vault now. Please remember that you will have to enter your email address and password first for your Norton Account and then you will be asked for your Vault password.

Please come back and let us know if this has worked for you.

Thanks.

No does not work. Out of the blue this morning cannot access my vault. It asks me to sign in or create an account. My vault, nor Norton.com, sign-in works. It gets stuck in a loop. I have re-started computer. My info is there; I have not forgotten or lost any passwords. I just cannot sign into my vault due to the incorrect dialog box.

Re: Identy Safe Account log in box closes

Thank you. I had seen that post and tried it.  It did not work.  Then, after restarting my computer it hit me that I had not signed in on the product.  I had signed in on the same wrong dialog box.  So, I signed in to Norton and it worked.  Thanks.  BTW I have a 64 bit HP ENVY that is less than 3 years old. It started as Windows 8, then 8.1 and now I have Windows 10. Recently, I did a Norton Remove and Reinstall.  I had found that HP nor Windows Update were really giving me all the drivers I needed on the automatic or site updates.  I went through the Device Manager one by one and found nine needed important drivers.  I, also, found that Microsoft had mistakenly put Google on its compatibility list which was causing that to hang, not respond and shut down explorer. That was fixed by unchecking that box under compatibility view settings.   After fixing all those things and having those issues,  I decide to go the third step with the Norton R & R tool.  My computer is flying now, using IE.  I was surprised when all of a sudden I could not get back into the vault a few days later and thanks to the above tip and my finally doing it correctly, it is fixed.  I have had that issue before and had it fixed by restarting my computer.  The only updates that might have interfered with the vault issue were the NVidia driver update and Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. Those happened in the interim of it working and then, not working.  Thanks again. I've been using Norton/Symantec since my first computer which had no internet and was Dos.

Re: Identy Safe Account log in box closes

Hello Plover

Please do not rely on Windows Update for drivers for your laptop. I used to do that until one time they put a driver on for my onboard sound. It completely screwed up my sound. It was a job getting my sound working again. Always go to either your laptop manufacturer's website or the website of the maker of the product. I have to drivers sitting in my Windows Update now. I have newer drivers installed than what they say I am missing. Make a habit to check for drivers like once a month or set up the programs to let you know when there is a driver, but don't download it.. I do that with Windows Updates also. I'm still on Windows 7 Pro and plan to stay like that until the free Windows 10 is almost up. Maybe by then, the program will be just about done.

I'm glad that my suggestion fixed your issue. It's a good idea to have a clean and fresh copy of the program every so often.

Thanks.

Re: Identy Safe Account log in box closes

With Windows 10 Pro I don't have a choice.  All updates are automatically downloaded and I can only choose when to install.  I can, also, choose delayed updates, but that does not help either. If you don't have the Pro version, you get zero choices.   HP said that Windows 10 would be keeping everything up to date, because HP had not tested Windows 10 drivers for Computers purchased before August 2013; Windows is not doing that.  I purchased March 2013.  I believe that I would rather find 9 missing drivers than get one wrong one from Windows.

Windows 10 Edge is worthless to me, because I certainly am not going to rely on Windows to provide safe searches.  BTW I don't have a laptop. I have a desktop that I hopefully have configured for the future. Windows now is about marketing APPS! I try to keep my computer and head out of the "clouds" as much as possible.  I don't really use my Android phone to access my home computer or NAS, safer that way.  My phone of course has Norton, too.

Stay tuned.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a big Windows 10 update.  Thank you again.
