IE11, v20 IE Add-ons, and Safe Web Icons...

Okay - Could some Symantec Employee comment as to the following observations and associated question, please?

  1. IE11 is now officially released for Windows 7 platforms and is being pushed by Microsoft as an "Important Update".
  2. The browser add-ons for the Norton v20 products currently do not support IE11's "Edge Document Mode".
  3. This means that the Norton Web Safe Icons no longer function (appear) in IE if it is updated to IE11.

Does Symantec plan to address this issue for the v20 products?

Regards,

John

Hi John,

I think v21, the current version , is the 'fix' for the v20 shortcomings.

Thanks for the view point -

That's definitely the way to go - that is, once v21 is working well enough to be deemed truly usable.  However, as it presently stands too many of the elements (that I rely on) do not work well enough for my requirements.  And this is why I'm asking the question of Symantec - essentially whether or not they plan to continue their policy for supporting previous product versions.

Do understand that once the majority of "usability bugs" are out of the v21 products I will certainly be upgrading.

Kind regards,

John

The 2014 version's ID Safe is a mess, and I was hoping to hold out till 2015 or until they fix the awful UI. I first reported this bug a while ago. Perhaps it's worth linking to it for the screenshots?

The images in your thread are a good reference on the issue, but you did decide to mark the thread solved, assumably because of your discovery that IE11's Document Edge Mode is causing the incompatibility (and Kudos to you again for that!).  However, the way I see it, the actual problem is far from solved - this is something Symantec will need to do, if they choose to.

Kind regards,

John

I have revoked the solved status. I have marked it solved because I found what was causing the problem.
