IM not logging

All three of my daughters are set as a "Child" in the profile option.  They are using AOL Instant Messanger adn teh activity isn'y being saved.  I verified that the monitoring was turned on adn still no luck.. I have uninstaling and reinstalling the program to no avail.  I am using Windows Vista, IE 7 and have Symantec Ghost, Internet Security 2009 and System works.  Any idea what might be happening?

Something you can quickly check, go to the website https://onlinefamily.norton.com and log in. Click "Settings" and select one of your children. Once there select the "Instant Messaging" icon and click "go". Once there, be sure that Chat Supervision is turned on.

Thanks for the quick follow-up.  I thought that I had mentioned that I made sure that Chat Supervision was on for each one of my 3 children and it was.  Any other suggestions?  If it helps, I once saw the activity populate the screen for a brief second and then it disappeared.  Seems like a bug in the program rather than anything else.

Was the AIM client running when Safety Minder was installed? Has it been restarted since?

The AIM client was not running when Safety Minder was installed.  However, the computer has been shut down and rebooted several times.

What is the minor version of the AIM6? In AIM menu > Help >About AIM, you can see something like AIM Version 6.x.x.x?

Also please check AIM menu > View > Plugins > Manager...,  Can you see Norton Safety Minder Plugin there?

Yes, the safety minder plugin is running in AIM when I checked.

So the plugin is running, you have IM supervsion turned on, what level do you have set?

Blocked?

Monitored?

Not Blocked or Monitored?

It is set to monitored.

Can you try the block mode for verifying purpose? I thought it might have a bug in the monitored mode. Thanks

Be sure to click "Update House Rules" after you make the change so the rules are updated immediately, otherwise there is a delay and you may not see the behavior you are expecting.

To verify you can click "View House Rules" and you will see a basic outline of the rules for your child.

I wish that I could say it worked, but it didn't.  I tried changing it to block all IM traffic and that didn't work.  I made sure that I sync'd or updated the rules and that hasn't worked. I have rebooted the computer.  Uninstalled and reinstalled both programs and that hasn't worked.  Not sure what else I can do.

Hi srenauer,

There's a 'IM Friend list' section on the 'Instant Messaging, Settings' page.  Could you please check to make sure that all friends have been set to 'Monitored'.  Once that's done, click on the 'Update Settings' button.  

From my experience, it could take from 7-10 minutes before the IM traffic appears on the 'All Activities' tab.  Let me know if you start seeing the IM traffic activities after this delay.
