I'm trying to sort annoying 30 seconds (Waiting for community.norton.com) to open image album.
I've tested with extensions off.
I'm wanting to test calling IMCE with smaller image album.
I'm wanting to housekeep my album to see if "Waiting for community.norton.com" time improves.

One thing to remember is that if you delete an image that you posted in a thread, that image will not longer be available to that thread, and might make the message you originally posted a little less clear.

Re: IMCE - Delete pics does not delete pics

Hi bjm_:

I think I have the same problem.

When I checked this morning my IMCE reported "1384 files using 52.17 MB of unlimited quota".  I deleted an image I uploaded yesterday named Firefox v94_0_2 Up to Date 22 Nov 2021.png and IMCE confirmed I only had "1383 files" after the deletion.  However, the next time I opened IMCE the deleted file was back in my IMCE list of uploaded images and the file count was back to reporting "1384 files using 52.17 MB of unlimited quota" as shown below.

Signing out and back into the forum didn't fix my file count (IMCE still reported 1384 files).  Now when I try and insert that "deleted" Firefox v94_0_2_ Up to Date 22 Nov 2021.png image I get a "broken image" placeholder as shown below.

Re: IMCE - Delete pics does not delete pics

A couple of things to remember about deleting files.

One, it costs us nothing to keep these files stored here. The Search function works well if you have given useful names to your files.

Two, if you have used a file in a post and you subsequently delete the file from IMCE, it will no longer appear in the post. This might detract from the usefulness of that post if a new user searches for an issue that that post helped resolve.

Hi peterweb:

Yes, I learned that the hard way several years ago.  However, the image I uploaded yesterday named Firefox v94_0_2 Up to Date 22 Nov 2021.png that I used in my example <above> was only uploaded as a test to make sure the IMCE didn't hang during the upload (i.e., I never intended to insert the uploaded image into a reply) so I should be able to delete uploaded images from my image repository if I decide not to insert them in a reply.  Based on Sunil_GA's 04-May-2021 post <above> I don't think what bjm_ and I are observing is intended behaviour.

Hi Sunil_GA:

Just confirming that I'm still having this problem.  I tried deleting the two highlighted .png images below from the IMCE today but they keep reappearing in the list (and my file count never decreases) the next time I open the IMCE.

Re: IMCE - Delete pics does not delete pics

I re-tested today and the problem persists with the new forum UI.

I uploaded a .PNG image named Dell Fusion Serivce v2_0_58_0 Manual Install Successful 16 Apr 2022.png and inserted it into a new reply in the sandbox thread today at https://community.norton.com/en/comment/8527184#comment-8527184 using the IMCE button.  The image  displayed correctly after insertion.

I then deleted that .png image from the IMCE.  As expected, I now see a broken image placeholder in my reply ...

... but like a bad penny, the next time I opened the IMCE the deleted image had re-appeared in my list of uploaded images.

If I now try and insert that previous uploaded (and deleted) .PNG image here in this thread (i.e., the image that IMCE incorrectly thinks is still located on the Norton server) then I just get another broken image placeholder.

Hi Sunil_GA:

Is this still on the list of problems to be fixed by the forum software developers?

I tried deleting the two .png images highlighted below that I uploaded today and don't need, and like before, the deleted images simply re-appeared in the File Browser the next time I opened the IMCE.

Re: IMCE - Delete pics does not delete pics

I guess Norton is not too concerned about this because the few files we may want to remove take up very little room in what appears to be unlimited storage for each user.

I wonder if they do not want us deleting images because they would get removed from any post that we added that image, which could take away from the usefulness of that post????  Even though there is a Delete option in IMCE.

Sunil_GA's 10-Jun-2021 post <above> that said the "Issue has been reported to team" led me to believe he agreed that this IMCE problem needs to be fixed by the forum software developers.

@lmacri, It's a known issue with a platform that needs to be fixed by the platform side. We will update once we have this fix from the platform side.

If Community Admin want my old pics.
Community Admin can move my (old) pics to a Community image album repository under Admin control.

@bjm_ Unfortunately, we cannot do this at present. This requires building a new solution altogether which involves even more challenges handling images uploaded to the community platform.
