INCOGNITO restriction needed in Norton Family

ALL THE SITE RESTRICTION WE PUT IN VIA NORTON FAMILY DOES NOT WORK WHEN KID GOES VIA INCOGNITO MODE.

Though we checked Incognito monitoring in chrome my kid found a way to uncheck it and continue to use it.

ALL I WANT IS :: NORTON FAMILY SHOULD PROVIDE OPTION TO ENABLE/DISABLE INCOGNITO MODE. WITH PASSWORD PROTECTION. WE DON'T WANT TO PAY EXTRA MONEY TO THIRD-PARTY EXTENSIONS FOR PASSWORD ENABLED INCOGNITO MODE MANAGEMENT.

Hi SIVAKUMAR,

What operating system is running on the child's device(s), Windows PC or Android phone?

Thanks

Re: INCOGNITO restriction needed in Norton Family

I'm having the same problem. I'm using a PC running windows 10.

Is there a solution, or is getting around NortonOnlineFamily as simple as unchecking a checkbox then using incognito rendering NortonOnlineFamily useless?

Re: INCOGNITO restriction needed in Norton Family

Hi snowboarder1087,

Can you please let me know

1. What browser the child (or you when you test it as the child) uses?

2. Can you please try incognito mode on Firefox, IE and Chrome to see if they all behave the same way on the monitored PC as the monitored child?

Thanks

Katie

Re: INCOGNITO restriction needed in Norton Family

Normally the browser being used was Chrome, then I tested Microsoft IE (Edge) and found that IE (Edge) didn't have this incognito workaround issue so I decided to delete Chrome and Firefox from my computer. Then when I tried using IE again, I realized that plenty of sites were not being blocked at all in IE (sites that were supposed to be blocked and had been blocked when I had been using Chrome). So I re-installed Firefox to see what would happen with it, i.e. if the incognito issue would take place, but with Firefox (like with IE) plenty of sites are not being blocked at all - I don't even need to use incognito/in private browsing to access pages that are blocked in NortonOnlineFamily settings.

Re: INCOGNITO restriction needed in Norton Family

Hi snowboarder1087,

For Firefox on Windows device: When accessing website in Private Browsing, forbidden website should be blocked.  Since you reported that it's currently not blocked, can you please verify if the same website gets blocked when you are not using Private Browsing?  If it is still not blocked, then please make sure you have installed and configured the child's account correctly.  Please check out the link below for installation and configuration.

For Edge on Windows device: Edge and Norton Family are currently not compatible.   For details, please check

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/important-windows-10-information-...

For IE (not Edge) on Windows device:  It should be the same as Firefox above.

For Chrome on Windows device: Please check out the link below:

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks

Katie

Thanks Katie
