Installation cannot continue error

On opening the installation file (NU 16.0.2.53.SMUI.exe) I get the message - "Error. Installation cannot continue."  Clicking "Norton Support" leads me to the browser (Opera, latest version) and the page "Computer stops responding when you install NU16."  This page is not relevant because the computer has not stopped responding;  only the installation program has stopped.  Further, it refers to win 8 and I am using win 10 (Ultimate, latest version).  It does refer to AMD chips, which I do use, but I already have the latest chip version.

Any advice from anyone please?

Have you tried restarting your computer a couple of times before trying the install of NU? 

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Thanks for responding so quickly.  The machine had been started and restarted several times, with no effect.  However, for no reason that I can fathom, I have just tried installation again, and this time it worked.  As far as I know I haven't made any change to the system at all.

The Windows computers are still a mystery to me. It can be hard to tell what might be the solution to any given problem. Maybe it was one more restart.
