Insufficient space

How can I disable the pop up window that appears every half hour saying that there is insuffucient space to back up my files?  I have already arranged for back up not to back up any files but pop up persists.

Thanks

Welcome,

Can you tell us a bit more? Like which version of what Norton product you are running and the settings for your backup set?

Thanks

Re: Insufficient space

Dick,

Thank you for the reply.  I have Norton Internet Security 2012 which came with a new computer.  Settings for back up are

Current Schedule: Manual

Next Scheduled Back up: None

last Successful Back up:  None

Thanks again,

Hi John,

Now if you have no files selected to be backed up and no place selected for them to be backed up you just might get rid of the message, most of the time.

A nag in the back of my head tells me that the program really wants to backup something at some point. When I don't want it to do much of anything, especially nag me, I select a very small file for manual backup and let it go to an external USB drive with enough space that it won't bug me about space any time this year.

Hope this helps

Re: Insufficient space

Ok, I will give that a shot.

Re: Insufficient space

Since Norton Internet Security does not come with a backup feature, do you know what program is giving you the warning?

Maybe it's the windows backup tool giving a warning through the action center?

Re: Insufficient space

Dave, thanks.  Is there an easy way to check that?

Re: Insufficient space

If you got Norton Internet Security 2012 with 360 protection, this is likely the Norton Online Backup that came with it. Look at the message that pops up and see if the title of the software is at the top.

Re: Insufficient space

Andy, it says "Norton Online Backup" at the top of the pop up.  The installed program is Norton Internet security 2012 which came with the new computer last week.

Re: Insufficient space

John,

If you are not interested in using NortonOnline Backup, you should be able to go into Control Panel > Programs & Features > Locate Norton Online Backup and uninstall it.  Reboot.

Please post back with results.
