Intermittent Scam Warning

NIS is giving me intermiitent scam warnings regarding a long established site. Boots The Chemists, largest pharmacy retailer in the UK is sometimes coming up as a scam site and other times , connects fine.

boots.com is the offending site. Norton is incorrectly labelling this a scam site intermittently.

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

Hello. This site http://www.boots-uk.com/ comes up clear as a bell.

This site you posted shows malicious. Please note: They are two different website URL's. Are you sure you are visiting the correct site?

Cheers

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

Indeed, when viewing the safeweb report the screen appears asking for a URL. Once inserted it gives certified by Norton. Definite conflict going on. Since you are not the site owner there isn't really anything you can do other than report this to the site admins and give them the link below to have things corrected by safe web.

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

I'm quite surprised by the rather schoolboyish and libellous way in which Norton chooses to announce its own errors to the world in such provocative terms as if they were gospel truth.
You would think they had more intelligence than to write

"This is a known fraudulent site"

when this is a clear mistake by them and they have no proof at all.
Have they never heard of a court of law and its attitude to libel and defamation of an organisation in public on the internet?
You would think a responsible company would tread a little more carefully. Obviously Norton are not a responsible company.

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

Hello

I can have the Safe Web Team re-evaluate the site that comes up as a scam. I would need to know which link that is though. I can't see the site that Soul is posting as the malicious site. If the malicious site is indeed incorrect, they will correct the error.

The link is posted above in the second post it is also posted as a file attachment in the first post. Look for the giant red photograph posted in the second post down and you will see it clearly.

It seems that boots.com is OK now. I just accessed it with no problems.

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

It's not my site,

I think that has been made very clear from previous comments above.

it is the largest pharmacy retailer in the UK. That is why I was trying to warn Symantec. Their mistakes could prove to be very costly if Boots decide to enter litigation for the defamation that has been done to their business by Symantec.

The problem has been going on for months. I first got the Norton "fake site" block before Christmas and even if you select "continue to site anyway" , Norton simply gives you a blank page. Can you imagine how much online business they have lost due to your errors ?

They have over 2,500 stores in the UK and Ireland alone.

I like using Norton Internet Security which is why I would like the problem sorted asap. I don't think it is a very wise business decision for Symantec to proudly claim "This is a known fraudulent site", the error could get you into serious trouble one of these days. I suggest modifying your language to " This is possibly/ has been flagged as  a fraudulent site"

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

Still no change, still intermittently coming up as a fraudulent site and still no sign of Norton doing anything to sort out this problem.

The biggest laugh is when you get the red screen warning of a fraudulent website, if you click through to the safety report it says the site is totally clear and safe and on the left hand side, there are reports left from Norton users about the absurdity of this Norton mistake, going back SIX YEARS !!! Disgraceful.

Re: Intermittent Scam Warning

I was getting warnings for safe websites too!

I uninstalled Norton toolbar and other extension and the warning I was getting for other sites quit.

I think it is conflict with toolbar and Chrome maybe. waiting for extensions update to be fixed
