Intrusion Prevention Signture for NIS2010

What's the latest IPS signature for NIS2010?  A link to "regularly" check this would be appreciated.

You can find the latest security updates for NIS 2010 (and other products) over here:

Re: Intrusion Prevention Signture for NIS2010

I am looking for NIS2010 IPS definitions NOT virus definition. http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/securityupdates/list.jsp?fid=nis

Only lists NIS09's IPS defs.  I'm getting worried (and maybe paranoid) because my IPS defs has not changed.

Re: Intrusion Prevention Signture for NIS2010

The link I have indicated above leads to the link you have indicated in your post. There is no separate list for NIS 2010. No need to get paranoid; ever since we got ultra-fast updates like Pulse Updates, we've become spoilt and consider any delay a nuisance ;-)

If you go over here, you'll see that the definition numbers begin with 2009 - and the defs are meant for Norton 2010 products. I think the 2009 refers to the release date of the defs, not to the version year of the Norton product they apply to.

Re: Intrusion Prevention Signture for NIS2010

Hi Yaso_Kuuhl,

I had to uninstall NIS 2009 and install NIS 2010 last night with the help of Norton Chat because my IPS were not updating in NIS 2009. NIS 2009 never let me know that there was a problem with the IPS not updating. The new IPS came out 0n 10/21/2009 and on 10/26/2009 I still had not received the update. When I ran Live update, I was told there were no updates available and when I ran a one-click support check everything came out fine.

Since I installed NIS 2010 last night my IPS read as follows ( I assume they are up to date)

Intrusion Prevention is monitoring 1482 signatures. Driver version: 9.1.1.7

Intrusion Prevention Engine Version: 4.5.0.67 Definitions Set Version:20091021.001

I was getting paranoid too. The chat guy never did tell me why my IPS were not updating, sometimes I think their Solutions list reads

when someone calls with a problem:

1. uninstall and reinstall

2. uninstall and reinstall

I am happy  that I now have NIS 2010 installed, but now I have to learn a new interface and new controls and I also see that there is a new patch that will be downloaded soon ( 17.1.0.14) sometimes I think I spend more time with my antivirus and security than surfing the net.

Thanks, Kevin

The page for latest IPS signatures for NIS and NAV 2010 was uploaded yesterday. It is now a new tab under the same location you mentioned earlier -
