Is it Windows or Norton that's causing my printing problems?

After Windows update to version 10 the computer stopped communicating with the printer.  All the Mac's in the house do not have this problem by the way.

My work around has been to disable the smart firewall for 15 minutes and the print is authorized and goes to print usually.  I can not print in Chrome no matter the circumstances.    I do not know if this is a Norton issue or a Windows issue and can not find a solution.

I've spent 2 months trying to fix this and have come up empty handed.  Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Re: Is it Windows or Norton that's causing my printing problems?

Hello bstngrl10

Please disable Fast Startup in Power Management. After updating to Windows 10, did you reinstall your Norton product? I'm not sure by your first sentence in your opening post if you mean you just updated to Windows 10 or if you meant you just got the Spring Update?

If disabling the Fire Wall works for you, then you can try a reset of  the Norton Smart Fire Wall. After the reset, then try the printer and see if it works. There shouldn't be anything in a fresh Smart Fire Wall that should be blocking it. If that doesn't help, then let us know and we can help further.

Please let us know how you made out.

Thanks.

To reset the Norton firewall, from the main Norton Security screen click on Settings - Firewall. On the General tab, click on Reset beside Firewall Reset. Restart your computer. As you use programs that access your network/internet, the firewall rules will be created again.

I had problems printing from Chrome in Win 10 after the Spring Update. My printer is connected to my network by Ethernet cable. I just power cycled my printer and it was again seen by my Win 10 computers.
