javaws.exe*32

On my other computer using task manager I have discovered a problem.  I have hundreds of occurrences of javaws.exe*32 running under processes and computer is running very, very slow...  Is this a problem?  Is this something that Norton should have protected my computer from?  Is there a solution?

If you have any problems with javaws.exe, you can look for help and updateto the latest version or uninstall Java.  If you do not need Java remove and if you need Java disable when not in use...

Hello GWY1953

Welcome to the Norton Community Forum

You can also go to Control Panel>Java applet>General>Temporary Internet Files>Settings> uncheck Keep Temporary Files In My Computer> On the Bottom of that Page, Delete Files.

Doing this will help to keep Java Malware out of your computer. Thanks.

Re: javaws.exe*32

Hello Kenny

On your Control Panel, do you have Java listed? If you click on Java and it opens up a panel, that is the applet.

Thanks.

Re: javaws.exe*32

I have a similar problem and had thousands of javawa.exe*32 running in my task manager earlier this am.  I have none now but my Task Manager no longer tells how may apps, services are running.  The screen now just has Image Name, User Name, CPU, Memory, and Description headings.  I cannot open the Java app in the control panel.  I have not tried to uninstall the two Java programs yet.   Any suggestions?

Re: javaws.exe*32

Hello PTBob

Why do you have 2 Java programs?  The current Java is version 65. If you have any other older versions, you should use the Java Removal Tool and remove Java and then download it again if you need to use it..

Thanks.

Re: javaws.exe*32

I have a 32 bit and a 64 bit java program for the browsers I’m using.  I did go to the oracle website and found that my programs were outdated.  Normally it tells me when to update but did not this time for some reason.  I have since updated, uninstalled the older versions, and things seem to be working okay now.
