Journaling, Rollback?

Does Norton Security offer any kind of journaling and rollback, like what is offered by Webroot SecureAnywhere?
Here is a video demonstrating what they do: https://community.webroot.com/t5/Webroot-Education/What-Happens-if-Webro...

Basically, any program that Webroot is "monitoring" will have all its activities logged ("journaled").  If that program turns out to be a virus, Webroot can rollback everything it changed, including registry changes and writing to files.

It looks like Kaspersky offers something similar, but I suspect it is more clunky than Webroot's implementation, requiring more user involvement to be successful.

I hope Norton will implement a similar feature.  I think Norton is a little slicker than Webroot, and slightly more expensive but more full-featured (assuming you get the 25GB backup version).

Re: Journaling, Rollback?

The Webroot video you posted is two years old.  You can find Webroot video's HERE.

Journaling and Rollback are maybe, perhaps do-able if all the stars line up perfect.   And never guaranteed.

Try and find newer Webroot information.
Talk to Webroot support like I did.   If you reach a knowledgeable Tech, willing to share.

You'll be told what I was told.  Webroot offers free malware removal and free advanced malware removal.  Rollback is not an absolute.  Rollback for example will not sort ramsomware.   Webroot will try to clean the infection and then offer scripted info regarding crypto-ransonware.  Only come back, maybe, from ransomware is an clean image backup.

Norton offers Virus Protection Promise.  Meaning if you jump through all the required hoops and Norton cannot clean your system maybe you'll get a refund of the purchase price.

Webroot Virus Removal Options HERE
Webroot support will make every effort to assist you in locating and removing a potential malware infection from your computer.  Please keep in mind that Webroot cannot guarantee a 100% removal success rate for product or technical support efforts.  For more information, you may review our End User License Agreement (EULA) here.

My point being.  When you watch any video n' hear any product promotion.
Take it all with a grain of salt.

Re: Journaling, Rollback?

Real-time behavioral protection engine monitors and sandboxes applications, process and events as they are happening instead of statically. System changes can be rolled-back to prevent the malicious activity from impacting the system.
