Just noticed error messages in my 'Error Reporting Logs'???

Hello,

I jusy upgraded from XP to W7 three days ago and all appears to be running well with my NIS10. I have my home network running ok and all the various fuctions seem alright in the security suite.

Yesterday I notiiced the error entries in the above mentioned logs, and there are 9, three for each day. They all say they have been submitted to Symantec. I tried to submit the logs earlier but I couldn't for some reason, this is my second attempt in trying to post this message. Should I be concerned at this stage or just sit tight and wait to see what developes?

The version I have is NIS 17.00.146

These are three examples of some of the entries,

'Process ID. 05CC, Process Name ccSvHst, Module Name HNCORE'

'Process ID 0xA58, Process Name ccSvHst, Module Name uiGadCtl'

'Process ID 0x888, Process Name nmapapp, Module Name HNCfg'

Re: Just noticed error messages in my 'Error Reporting Logs'???

Hi brummie,

I also have errors under the Error Reporting Logs, and "Severity" lists them as "Low". I wouldn't worry about this (it's probably even normal); as long as NIS itself is error-free (look under "Errors"), NIS is not crashing or displaying any abnormal behaviour and the green checkmark is displayed against the Norton icon in the system tray, there is no need to worry.

Just found this thread for you; please read PieterV's post:

In other words: normal behaviour, and nothing to worry about if NIS is running smoothly. Message Edited by Yaso_Kuuhl on 11-08-2009 02:44 PM

Yaso, Thanks very much for putting my mind at rest about this. I thought that it may be normal but couldn't be too sure. Also read the link you provided which was interesting. My son's pc is also showing similar behaviour and there are no other entries in the 'Errors' section either! Could be with this new Windows 7 launch that there are these entries being generated? A Kudos to you sir.
