Licensing and Product activation status confusion...

Good day all!

I'm hoping for some clarification regarding a couple of things that I'm observing on the Norton Management site...

My Core Router pre-order was placed and accepted  on 6 March 2017 ...

As you see, although the router is yet to be shipped/received, the Management site Order History tab/page indicates that the router (1 Device(s)) as being installed (it's listed under the "Installs" column). Can some explain this?

Also - Although the accompanying Core Security Plus software product appears to still be "on hold" according to the History page (as indicated by the hyphen under the "Next Billing Date" column), which of course, is as expected - Yet on the Subscriptions tab/page, the Core Security Plus software product appears to be fully Activated with Auto-Renewal enabled - It also appears to be available/downloadable for install ...

So up to this point in time it has been my understanding that the Core Security Plus software subscription does not actually become "Activated" (subscription clock set running) until its accompanying Core Router HW has been received and installed by the user - also at which time, the then-current remaining days left on the user's then "currently in use" Norton Security product license (in my case, a 10 seat NS/wB) will be added to the Core Security Plus software's freshly activated complimentary 1yr subscription?

Okay - Assuming that my understanding of these points are basically correct (so far); why is the main Management site Dashboard prompting/suggesting to install the (I assume Core Security Plus software) when there's already a fully operational 10-seat NS/wB in place?

FWIW, I've asked before if there was some particular advantage to switching to the Core software over remaining on the NS/wB software until the Router is actually received and was told that there was no such advantage. Has that position now changed? Is this something I should be going ahead and doing now? If I do so (as prompted by the site) will it in any way affect the software licensing (remaining days) consolidation I'm expecting to occur once I do receive and install the new Core Router?

Any and all enlightenments will be cheerfully appreciated...

Cheers!

John

The column is actually called installs, not installed. This is your allowance. And the next column, Status, shows pre order. So they are not saying you have the unit. I would suggest these are just placeholders until the unit is shipped. Something has to be shown for the entries in the Core Security Product subscription.

The billing being on hold is also as expected. As you note in your next paragraph, you get to use the Core software, which is the same as your current NSBU, until you receive the unit.  And the subscription does not start until you receive and activate the unit.

Okay - Assuming that my understanding of these points are basically correct (so far); why is the main Management site Dashboard prompting/suggesting to install the (I assume Core Security Plus software) when there's already a fully operational 10-seat NS/wB in place?

Only guessing here, but I would suggest that the system sees the Core software as an upgrade. It does not know that the software is the same as what you are using now. The only benefit to upgrading now is the additional 10 devices with the Core subscription.

FWIW, I've asked before if there was some particular advantage to switching to the Core software over remaining on the NS/wB software until the Router is actually received and was told that there was no such advantage. No change. The software you get has not changed. As I noted above, the only difference is the number of devices covered.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
