The 2009 products have a feature called "Full Screen Detection". This feature will automatically turn on "Light Silent Mode" while the full screen application is running (such as Internet Explorer [hit F11], Windows Media Player, remote desktop in my case for the screen shot above, etc). NIS/NAV will automatically turn this off once the application exits Full Screen mode. You can enable or disable this functionality via Settings / Miscellaneous / Slient Mode and toggle "Full Screen Detection".
The difference between this "Light" version of silent mode, and manual silent mode (i.e. from the tray icon) is most of our background tasks are suppressed in the "Light" version, instead of all of them when you explicitly tell the product to enter Silent Mode.NIS will log an event each time it enters or exits silent mode.
