limited / admin accounts & norton security performance options? (windows 7 64 bit)

hi. it's kind of a petty question, but I always run this pc from the limited account (as an extra security measure) & Norton security (or the previous Norton 360 product I had for that matter), wont allow me to run most of the performance features from the limited account, even if I right click & choose "run as admin." (it constantly tells me I don't have admin. privileges) from norton security desktop shortcut.

how can I run these performance tools, without physically switching to the admin. account? is there another way to do it?  i'm using windows 7 64 bit.

that is really all I need today, thanks.

Hi, mish-q. Afaik, that's the only way to do it. If you're not comfortable using a full time admin account, then you can switch from the limited account to the admin account, for situations that require full privileges.

A bit inconvenient I know, but fwiw I've always run my computers with an admin account, and never run into problems.

Each to their own, however.

Hello

Please log in as Admin. to change a setting. Please go to Settings> Administrative Settings> scroll down about midway to Product Security>Non-Admins Access to Settings. Turn that ON>Apply. I would reboot after setting it. Then try your limited account and see if it works .

Please come back and let us know. Thanks.

Hi,mishy-q. Flo's suggestion should also do what you want, although I'd only use that if I was the only user of that computer.

...and also remember, even if you have followed floplot's suggestion (as it sounds like you have in your original post) the following applies:

You cannot access the Settings window if the Settings window is opened in some other user account on your computer.

So perhaps if you make sure that you do not have the Settings open on your admin account, you can gain control of those grayed functions in the limited user account.  Of course the Non- Admins access already has to be enabled from the Admin account.

Please let us know if that helps!
