"Live Updates Failed to Complete"

OK so I just bought NS

It installed fine, BUT when I try to update I get an error message saying "Updates Failed to Complete"

I have uninstalled with Norton Removal Tool and re-installed twice and get the same result.

My interconnect connection is perfect.

Uninstalling

Not useable

Really thrilled about my purchase.

Inexcusable Fail

I own active licenses for four IS Suites currently and have never seen a failure like this before.

W ill be requesting refund later.

Can't waste time with support.

Re: "Live Updates Failed to Complete"

Hi:-)

The downloads seemed to complete ok but, I did install it once before the trouble started but uninstalled it for various reason to be reinstalled at a later time, and at that time received two patches with the downloads. This time I got no patches. Is that because the patches have since been incorporated into the latest download. The install where the downloads were ok and I got two patches was only a few hours ago. Is there a way to check that my installation is fully updated including the patch content. Would that be able to be checked with the version number??? It's 22.02.17. Does that reflect that what were included in  patches a few hours ago are now incorporated into the download files?

Re: "Live Updates Failed to Complete"

Hi hok,

Just a thought, I know that NRT has been updated to version 22.0.0.20 on 09/25/14 to make it compatible with NS.
Did you use the latest version to uninstall NS or the previous one that perhaps you had downloaded prior to this date?

In the event, here's the link

Re: "Live Updates Failed to Complete"

Hi Sandro :-)

Yes I used the latest NRT.

But I have been thinking about the prior patches. One of them seemed to have borked my PC and some said it was cuz I used the version checker tool to see if I had gottten that patch. Well I did try to download that tool but never got to use it cuz my PC crashed before I did. That's when I got a lot of boos for thinking that a patch would change a version number.

That was about the patch that made NS fully compatible with FF 33. My NS is fully compatible with FF33 so what was in the patch has been incorporated into the latest down load of NS. The changeover of that download last night may have been the cause of the failing updates that occurred for a couple of hours early this AM - like 4AM EST. Cuz I had first downloaded and installed NS about 2AM and the updates included 2 patches. For reasons not relevant here I uninstalled NS with the intent of reinstalling later in the AM.When I did that and after the updates were fixed I received no patches so I think the installation download was changed to an updated version this AM that no longer required patching.

I really had not planned on buying NS last night, but when I saw the $20 lower price at 2 AM I was too tired to resist the temptation. I am hoping I will have no issues having the balance of my NIS license added to my new NS subscription.

Thus proving the old adage:"Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Maybe should have gone to bed earlier :-)

You seem to have a lot of crashes with your pc and from previous posts I gather that you use frequently the hard shutdown method.

I suggest that you visit a technician and check with him your hardware and also your operating system status, I suspect that you might have many things corrupted on your pc, if that's the case, NS failures is the last of your problems...

Re: "Live Updates Failed to Complete"

There was no NS failure re: patches. In speaking to support this AM to have my remaining NIS days added to my new NS sub (Which was done almost immediately with no issues) I was informed that what used to be downloaded via Live Update as two patches are now included in the latest downloaded install software. But yes, there was an acknowledged temporary glitch in the live update process early this AM about which was repaired.

I never shut down my PC, it's always on because it's critical to me professionally and personally and I rarely sleep - I do restart it occasionally and do hard shut downs only when absolutely necessary. One reported crash does not constitute frequently crashing.

A responsive answer to the issues raised in this thread would have been more appropriate, although I do appreciate your advice on other matters.
