Liveupdate Fails to Complete for Norton Security Suite on Windows 10

I have tried every solution I have been able to find elsewhere in the forums, short of going through every posting, one by one, to solve this problem. I have Norton Security Suite from Xfinity running on a Windows 10 PC. LiveUpdate checks ok, downloads ok, but does not process the updates. The only error message I receive states "Failed to complete" under the status column in the Liveupdate window. There is no error number or any other information provide. I have already restarted my system multiple times. I have uninstalled and reinstalled directly from Xfinity/Norton. LiveUpdate still will not process the updates. The current version of Security Suite is shown as 22.8.0.50. Please help me fix this. I encountered this same problem when I initially upgraded to Windows 10 over a year ago, but resolved the problem with the steps I listed above. The problem has returned and the fixes listed above will not resolve it this time.

Hello mpp7478

When you uninstalled, did you use the Norton Removal Tool, restart and then get the product from Comcast site.? Try disabling Fast Startup also. You will then have to run Live Update several times and restart when necessary. The current version is 22.9.0.68.

www.norton.com/nrt     The Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool does not work too well with NSS.

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.17.0.183 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re: Liveupdate Fails to Complete for Norton Security Suite on Windows 10

Uninstalled again without using NRT. Reinstalled from Xfinity's link. Received a "server error" message (no error #) at the end of installation. Restarted. Tried Liveupdate. Failed to Complete again. Restarted. LiveUpdate still "Failed to Complete."

I do not understand why this is continuing. Do I just keep running LiveUpdate until it goes through?

LiveUpdate finally worked, but I now have an error message: 3035, 6 from the Security Suite regarding an installation error that it cannot resolve.

Hi mpp7478,

Please go to the following and see if it is all green for you:

Please note the ID Safe function is being worked on at present - but should not affect you.

https://status.norton.com/

Please tell us your default browser (note Edge is not compatible with NSS) try another browser.

Also why did you not use the Norton Removal Tool as floplot suggested?

Re: Liveupdate Fails to Complete for Norton Security Suite on Windows 10

I did try the NRT originally but it didn't work. As floplot notes, it does not work well with NSS. However, it appears after several uninstalls and reinstalls and multiple efforts at running LiveUpdate, I now have the current version and it is actively running a Full System Scan. I uninstalled at least 4 times and restarted multiple times in order to get LU to run properly and finally install all updates.

Re: Liveupdate Fails to Complete for Norton Security Suite on Windows 10

Good new mpp7478 - glad all is working.

FYI, the Norton Removal Tool (NRT) does work fine on NSS.  If you reread floplot's response - it says to use the NRT and that the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool does not work well on NSS.  These are two different tools with two different functions.
