Norton 360 v5.0 is installed and updated. Live Update dialog box pops up consistantly. I've set it to 12 hours time span and including 1 hour time span but it never goes away, how can I make it go away permenately ?
I've seen this scenario occuring more often lately :
The user is running Live Update and is prompted to reboot the machine even if Norton tells him that the updates were installed succesfully. After reboot the updates are installed again and he's prompted again for reboot.
I can provide the full Log.Lue by PM
Can you please let us know the version of the product you have installed.
You can get this from Support->About. It should be 22.214.171.124 and you will be prompted to run Live Update completely untill it says no updates left and you should have restarted the machine whenever it asked for. Was this done?
And moreover, these updates which asks for restarting are for the various patches which we have sent for the product, the latest only which we sent is for the Firefox V8 patch. All these updates will ask for restart.
I have 126.96.36.199 installed. I have the most current version and no more updates are needed.
I don't use FireFox but Chrome.
Make sure that the system clock is current, it helps though.
My system clock is accurate. I can never prevent this message from ocurring ? It appears so, none of the suggestions thus far helped.
The first thought that occurs to me is to try uninstalling and then after a reboot reinstalling Norton 360. Then running live update as many times as it asks (including any requested reboots) and see if that sorts it. Norton 360 is complex as are the near continuous updates. Sometimes it seems to get a bit confused and so a clear reinstall may help.
However I must give the health warning that I am not a great expert on Norton 360 (unlike some others who frequent this forum) just a user and interested party who would like to help, so you may wish to wait for wiser counsel before you start down this path.
P.S. If you do go for uninstall/reinstall make sure you first save your Identity Safe details and record your product key and serial number (available if you log onto your Norton account, under Products.
Whatever you choose - good luck.
Please try to reinstall the Norton program using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool. You can download it from the link Norton Remove and Reinstall. It will download the installer and will automatically remove and install a fresh copy of the Norton after the restart. The best way to fix this would be to contact Norton Support.
Did the removal tool procedure help you out ? Please keep us up to date so we can find the reason for this behaviour.
I was having a similar problem. Frustrating!
I used the Norton Remove and Reinstall untility and the problem was solved.
What are the three options this prompt gives you ? I have received the error in two days, but I'm wondering I may have told it not to ask me any longer ?
