Local Norton Identity Safe

Using Windows 10 and Chrome with NIS extension. Click on "Vault is closed" and I usually get a request for password. Now I get a request for my email address and password. My vault has always been stored locally so why am I being asked for what seems to be a vault stored in the cloud. NIS ver. 2014.7.11.42 was updated four hours ago. HELP !!!!

Re: Local Norton Identity Safe

First suggestion for Win 10 is to disable the Fast Startup feature. If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Then go to your main Norton product screen and if you see your email address, click on it and click Sign Out. Close your Norton product and any browsers. Restart your computer, just in case. Now try to sign into your vault again.

What Norton product are you using, and what version? From the main Norton screen, click on Support/Help - About.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Local Norton Identity Safe

This product is Norton Identity Safe a password manager free from Norton: ver. 2014.7.11.42, and up until today was running happily for two users on windows 10. I have no other Norton product to sign out from, and disabling Fast Startup makes no difference. If I knew where each users password data were stored I could copy it, replace NIS and start again.

Re: Local Norton Identity Safe

If you have the Stand Alone version of ID Safe, it does not use a local vault. You did not have to enter your email all the time, because the program did not log you out every time. Occasionally, it will log you out, maybe after the update to ID Safe.

Did you try logging back into your Norton Account with the email and password, and then the vault password?

Re: Local Norton Identity Safe

Hello

Today is Windows Update Day. Since you have Windows 10, perhaps some Windows update has done something else to Norton products.

Thanks.

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view. Windows 7 Pro 64 bit NSBU 22.17.0.183 Core Firmware 282 I E 11 Chrome latest version.

Re: Local Norton Identity Safe

Thanks for the help. Solution was to log into my old Norton account (once I set up a new password) then I was able to submit my vault password. I now have a two stage login process but at least it works.
