Local Security Authority Process

My security history lists two entries saying "You allowed Local Security Authority Process to access your network resources" and "You created firewall rules to manage how Local Security Authority Process accesses your network resources".  Both entries refer to lsass.exe and to port 41955.  I did not make any changes so not sure what is going on.  Someone else who was using the computer around the time this happened (and who did not make any changes) said the computer suddenly showed a DOS type screen saying something about an error and a data dump and then it rebooted.

Any thoughts?  Thank you.

Hi imlost,

The lsass.exe entries and the "you created firewall rules"  wording are normal and would not necessarily be an indication of anything being amiss.  Check the Windows Event Viewer and you should find an entry that will tell you what the DOS window and data dump were all about.

Thanks very much for your reply and for the suggestion to check Event Viewer.  I took a look and though it was a bit difficult for me to decipher, I found several entries around the time of the shutdown.  It appears there's nothing major though I'm not completely certain.

So I assume there's no reason to reset my firewall.

There is not need to reset the firewall.  It is a necessary system file, and it requires the access.
