Logs no longer appear - same problem as TopDog - see below

Hi

I read the above posts with interest. As well as doign all the stuff TopDog, did, I even deleted the first child profile i had (which did work for a while and for whci I did get logs) and set up another, but alas, that's not being monitored either. Ot if it is...I'm being told "no activity in last 7 days - even tho my son is on his PC right now.


PLease advise what the solution was - as it seems I have the same problem.

Hi mylesseb,

Are you still experiencing the issue?  I'm not able to reproduce the issue.  What browser and version do you use? What Operating System is running on the monitored PC?

Thanks for getting back to me.

The monitored PC is using Windows, 7 current version (updated it last week) and the PC is up to date. Home User.

He uses Chrome or Explorer - I will check the versions and get back to you.

But for now, what browser do you recommend and which version -if that's the quick fix, then I can de-install his other browser.

Are there no logs at all from 3/17  to 3/23 or did the program record some activities during this period?

The browsers you use should be OK.  The reason I asked for browsers and versions is that we can try to reproduce the issue using the same browsers you use.

no logs at all fo the last two weeks.

he's on the PC right now as I type (I'm on another PC, of course) and there are no logs

I got logs for the first week (february) , then they stopped.

I'm guessing that the PC my son is on either downlaoded some updates or his firewall (also Norton) did.

................also, hope this helps, but on my PC, not my son's I notice that the Setting of Time Blocking will not save, even tho, I keep resetting it each time I check for activity. When I return even a few hours later, there is no time blocking. I'm using Firefox 11.0.

So, maybe two problems or one linked problem.

We are working on the update that will support Firefox 11.  For now,  is it possible that you try Internet Explorer to see if you still experience the issue?

Same issue in Expplore and as per the other posts on the forum from other users.

Not surprised because as I said.....

It DID work in my Firefox browser when I first installed it! But then stopped (that does sound like a Firefox upgrade, I know)

It seems to me that the issue is on my childs PC.

It can see his PC it just does not report his activity.

I am having the same problems as well.  We use google chrome and have windows 7 on both computers.  Stopped recording activity sometime last night.  Hopefully there's a fix to this soon

No, as I said in my post, it worked at first and has never worked since.

Surely, give, sooooo  many of us are reporting this, it's a bug, so can we move to the next stage - I'm thinking of just cancelling ansu suing Windows Time Blocker, my kid has been unprotected this whole time

Is the Norton Safety Minder icon, a dog paw in the system  tray on the child's PC still active?  When you log onto your Norton Online Family account, do you see the child's profile is protected (in green)?  Is not, please reinstall Norton Safety Minder on the PC. You don't need to re-set the house rules as they are saved on the Norton Online Family servers.  Please check the following links to make sure the child's account is being monitored.

The child has been showing as protected, in green for the entire time I have had the problem.

This issue is most definitely not solved.

If I'm being told he is protected, then surely I would be able to see his history?

Or does "protected" mean - "history and usage invisible?"

Are you suggesting that by reinstalling the program, he will now be "protected" history visible" or both, if they are different.

"Protected" means the child is monitored and you should see the child's online activities.

Please uninstall/reinstall Norton Safety Minder on the PC by following the steps described in my previous post to see if it helps.

The doggy paw was missing and somehow the client had deinstalled - or the child had, de-installed it.

It's now  reinstalled, doggy paw is visible and showinng "enabled".

I am on another PC checking and this is what I see when I try to monitor:

"2/14/12 2:28 PM : The device has not reported any activity in the last two weeks. Please go to the device and check the Norton Safety Minder to make sure that it has not been disabled or uninstalled. From the message starting with "2/14/12 2:28 PM" in your post, that shows the program detected Norton Safety Minder on 2/14/12 was not running for the last two weeks.

I'm sorry I can't read the rest of the message that you are trying to show us.  I think you copied and pasted the Profile Setting page, and it became unreadable somehow in your post.

Would you like to send a screen shot of the page and post it here?  You can do that by clicking the Insert/edit image icon.

"No activity for Last 7 Days"...

Is what it tells me.


I've reisntalled it on kids' PC - and the paw is showing in the tray

On the first day or two after re-installing - i started to get emailed reports advising me of warnings the kid was getting and how he had chosen to act. So, from Sunday 8th to Monday 9th I got these warnings, then they stopped.

(e.g.

Seb2 ignored the warning and visited this blocked Web site for the following reason:

  • www.mcbotg.net - "Uncategorized".
    Seb2's Note:
  • .For more details, do the following:
  1. Go to onlinefamily.norton.com
  2. Click Member Sign In, type your email address and password, and then click Sign in.


When I look at the activity, these warning messages...

...are not reflected in the report:

"No activity for Last 7 Days"....

Sunday and Monday is the last seven days.

Where am I going wrong?

Last night I started getting the emails again telling me kid was visiting risky sites...so I again checked the ac tivity page, but it is still reporting "no activity in past seven days"

this page:

..is telling me the kids IS protected.

So, we now only have  are reporting issue on the summary page. Everyting else seems to work.

1. Just for testing purpose, can you please go to a blocked site, like playboy.com to see if it gets blocked?

2Please check again to see if Web supervision is On at Settings -> Web.

3. What version of Norton Safety Minder is running on the PC?

4What security product(s) and version is running on the PC?

5.  Please make sure  you don't have any other parental products installed on the PC.

Replying to your questions...

Yup - it blocks playboy.com, gives the message etc.  And I have been getting notifications of similar activity, to my inbox on my pc

Yup - web supervision is on and set to give a warning and allow - and that is reflected in the House Rules when he is logged on to his PC

2.3.0.18 is the version running on his PC

Security product is Norton 360 5.2.1.3

No other security products on the PC (it was bought new with Norton preinstalled) and Windowsn parentla control is off.

One update - the time blocking fails each tiime it is set.  I reset it for his age group last night, three times and each time, restarted the OC.  Each time it had forgotten the settings.

And, also, some good news.  last night on his PC logged on to my account (i,e not logged on as the child) the NOTIFICATIONS were visible. All that I had done on his PC was a restart!  I shut down the PC overnight, went back on his PC - and they are gone again   - "no activity for the last 7 days" is once again visible.  I tried checkin on my PC - and that is still showing "no activity...."

...I tested time blocking twice today and once last time at differnt times.

The kids PC clock said 11:32am and time blocking was set for 11:30am and he was still allowed access.  I replicated this error three more times.

His contol panel icon does tell him how long he has to go , so some aspects of the Time Settings are working - but not the (critical) time blocking part

Hopefully, this is part of the same problem.

I assume even though playboy.com is blocked, but still no logs.

Can you also please select the option "Block the site" instead of "Give a warning but allow XXX on the site anyway" online and save it, then visit playboy.com again as a monitored child to see if it helps to make the logs available?

Correct - no logs when I tried playboy.  Emails to me, yes, but logs, no.

Using, Chrome, I selected Block The Site and waited about 5 minutes, then tried to access Playboy.  It warned me but did not block me, I said I wanted to proceed anyway and it let me.  i replicated this a couple of time, in case there was a delay in the new block setting taking effect.

I then used Exporer - and the same thiing happened

And the problem with time blocking is still there too - it does not log him off at the set time.
