Lost backup sets after reinstall

After a recent reinstall of Norton 360 by level 2 support while working on a restore crashing problem I was having, I noticed my previous backup set was gone. After reporting this new problem another support tech informed me when a reinstall is done you lose your previous backup set and apparently those backups. If this is truly the case you need to warn users before they allow a reinstall, or start one themselves.
