Message: "Core product(s) have been modified. Please run Smart update or reinstall the product" when starting Norton Utilities 16.0 You can ignore this message and Norton Utilities will work as normal as there is no update required.

The solution to the Norton Utilities 16.0 provided is simply to ignore the message and Norton Utilities will work as normal as there is no update required.  I have NU scheduled to start/run at a certain time, therefore, if I am not at my computer the program stays on the error message...thus nothing happens!  This has become a very annoying problem to say the least.  Is there an update/fix in the works being scheduled for release...like in the very near future?

I have the exact same problem!! Put down the doughnut and fix the problem!! It's been months!! I have asked this question on chat and several times.  My suspicion is that Norton Utilities is being discontinued---all I have been told for months is "to ignore it." No updates or new versions of the program for a long time. Those of us who have been  loyal NU customers for years would appreciate a forthright answer. Having a malfunctioning program access one's registry is not something that inspires confidence.

You might very well be right. This isn't the first time with the exact same error message but for a different problem. Is it the end of NU? I don't know. I, personally, feel they're to busy harping and crowing about the new Life Lock addition rather than fixing what used to be a very, very good program! Norton wake the )@#*%$*&)^Up and do something! Stay away from the doughnuts and coffee bar and fix the program! Alas poor Norton I knew thee well, you're becoming a has been!

Maybe it's time to search for another program(s), both Utilities AND Security Suite. One way to lose customers is to ignore them. Hello Norton, anybody listening?? Hello, anybody home??? Crickets.

I've been waiting for Norton to fix the NU "Core Problem" problem for about 3 months (since November or December 2019). Everyone is hearing crickets from Norton.

It appears Norton no longer cares about their customer service commitment. I've been a faithful NU & Norton Anti-Virus customer for over 25 years and can remember when Norton was "the bomb" for anti-virus protection and utilities.

Now they have lost their focus and push the Life Lock product. The bean counters have taken over, and like most companies focused entirely on profits, they don't give a hoot about anything but getting your money.

The way to send the message to Norton is to stop renewing and change your utilities and anti-virus to another provider. Like my buddy says, "they're not holding a gun to your head so you can buy elsewhere". I refuse to do business with companies that don't follow through with customer service and warranty commitments.

I've turned off auto renew on my Norton account and will change our computers to another provider for utilities and anti-virus beginning in March. I have a new laptop coming first week of March 2020 and that will be Norton free.

This error message has been reported since at least 2017: Why isn't it fixed?

It was fixed in 2017 and in 2018, but for some reason, Norton has chosen not to fix it this time. Maybe trying to push us to the new subscription based NU 17.

Peterweb you make a valid point and if by chance they r pushing us towards NU17...out of common courtesy they should at least notify us of that rather than simply continue to ignore our concerns.  This whole situation has led me to follow JC22312's suggestion and have turned off auto renewal for my Norton products.

I have been trying to get answers from my Norton contacts, but they have been unable to give any explanation for the silence on this issue. I guess it is above their pay grade too.

Add me to the list of customers experiencing this issue. It's almost time to renew my security coverage, Time to change horses in this race?

I have a solution to the problem.  As soon as my subscription expires(maybe sooner) I'm dumping norton.  There are lots of other products out there.
