Minder tool turned off without parent authorizing

Somehow my daughter seems to have successfully disabled minder in her user account without my (patent) username or password, which she could not possibly know!

Is there a glitch in the system somewhere or is the programme that easy to hack?

What is the OS? Does the trayicon turn to grey? Can you paste the activity page?

The OS is Vista home premium, the trayicon appears to completely disappear!

Re: Minder tool turned off without parent authorizing

With regard to your query, If you don't find the status tray icon, it could be because our service is not running.  Please let us know if you get the tray icon after restarting.

Also, please provide us more details with regard to the system, like

1.  Is the Windows account used by your child a "Limited" account or an "Administrator" account ?

2.  Is the machine name listed in the child's Profile page in web portal and you have the text "<child profile name> is protected" next to the machine name?

Re: Minder tool turned off without parent authorizing

I hope this is not a breach of forum rules - but could this be caused by a similar problem i have reported (Symantec Framework Stopped by windows) whereby the service was stopped for some reason by Windows.  My only solution was to reinstall the program and I have been asked to report back if this happens again.)

Re: Minder tool turned off without parent authorizing

This happens repeatedly on one of my computers as well.  Sometimes the sign-on name isn't even listed, or if it is listed my son is again not registered to it and is listed as"not protected".  I have to add him back onto the sign-in name (not Administrator) that we always use when signing on to this computer every time I sign on.  If he signs onto the computer on his own, he is not protected.  Very frustrating and time-consuming.  I hesitate to recommend to friends because of the glitch.

If the trayicon disappear, most likely the OFN service is stopped. Is there any chance that your daughter disabled or kill the ccsvchst process. Can you go to task manager to check how many ccsvchst.exe are running?
