Re: missing .dll

I installed Norton's Security and backup and carried out a full system virus scan and a performance tune up. Since then i have had a problem that was not there before the installation. When the computer starts up a window appears with a heading of CX-FREEZE PYTHON error in main script with a lot file information below it. Also an other 2 windows appear saying Tomtom My drive cannot start as MSVCP140.dll is missing the other saying VCRUNTIME140.dll is missing. Tomtom My Drive Connect no longer works and i have tried removing and reinstalling it 4 times.I have also tried running sfc /scannow which repaired some files the first time and said everything was ok the second time. I would like help solving this problem as I do not know what else to do except remove norton's and go back to my old anti virus solution.Any solution has to bear in mind I am not a computer programer or uber expert Regard Gem68

Re: missing .dll

What anti virus did you have before you installed Norton? Did you use the removal utility for that software to fully remove it before installing Norton?

What operating system version are you using? If you use Win 10 and recently got the Fall Creators Update, that could be causing some of your issues.

Also if on Win 10, try turning off the Fast Startup Feature.  If you use Windows 8/8.1 or 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Re: missing .dll

I have windows 10 with last large update. I used trend micro before and removed it properly .The problems did not start until i installed Norton. I have tried your suggestion of turning off Fast Startup feature unfortunately that did not help

Re: missing .dll

Are you restarting your computer between installation attempts of your Tom Tom software? ie uninstall, restart, reinstall.

Re: missing .dll

After an 1,30.hour plus remote session with Norton tech support the problem was fixed by installing Visual C++redistributle for visual studio. It seems some how during Norton installation some files were damaged/when missing ? and by installing the above these were replaced.Problem solved
