Missing "Identity settings" section in my Norton AV?

I recently purchased a laptop that came with Norton AV and I noticed it had features such as Safe Web and  section for "Identity Settings". However on my desktop where I also have Norton AV running I'm missing the "Identity settings" section, everything else is identical in the settings section compared to the laptop version. My desktop version of Norton AV is 16.7.2.11.

Hi _shaman_,

You very probably have got Norton Internet Security installed on your new laptop while you have got Norton AntiVirus installed on your desktop. You can check the versions of your Norton products by opening your Norton products, going to "Help & Support" and then to "About". Norton AntiVirus does not have Identity Safe, while Norton Internet Security has this feature.

Also, please check out this comparison chart which lists which features NIS and NAV 2010 share and do not share:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/charts/comparison.jsp?pcid=mp

PS: I see from your version build number that you are running NAV 2009 on your desktop. As a user of NAV 2009, you can upgrade for free to NAV 2010 via the Norton Update Center over here:

http://updatecenter.norton.com/

Users of NAV 2006 or later are eligible for this free NAV 2010 upgrade.

Identity section is not available in Norton AntiVirus.. It is available in Norton Internet security. Can you please check the products on your desktop and laptop? One may be Norton AntiVirus and one Norton Internet security I think.

Hi_shaman_,

If you are unsure about which version of NAV or NIS you have got, you can follow the instructions in this document:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20080417101717EN

In the Norton Update Center, if you choose to select your product manually, you have to type in the product you have got installed on your machine - not the product to which you want to update :-)
