Multiple logins, same URL - doesn't work in Chrome

When I attempt to sign in (by clicking on the account in the vault) to one of two accounts that use the same URL, the most recently used account always opens again, even when the correct login ID and PW appears on the login page. Also, if I use the "search login" option, the multiple logins message appears, requesting we choose the one we wish to use from a dropdown.  But when I click the orange dropdown arrow to view my choices, the message disappears.

Hi Lynn T,

Thanks for starting a new thread for your situation.

The information that peterweb provided in the following post applies in your case as well:

Something you may also try is to use another browser as a test.  Internet explorer still works (FF is still broke) as far as the Identity Safe Log-in goes.  By testing on another browser, we might be able to narrow it down to a site problem or a browser problem.

Re: Multiple logins, same URL - doesn't work in Chrome

I have a similar problem with Google accounts and IdSafe.

It appears to me that when you are at a URL for which you have multiple accounts then IdSafe forwards, automatically, the last password used for that URL regardless of the account that is currently desired. The result is a login failure because the wrong password is forwarded unless you are accessing the same account as you did when last at that URL. As stated previously if you use the drop down list in the toolbar then the correct user id and password will be forwarded to the login host server at that URL and your login will be sucessful.

So the bottom line for now is to always use the drop down list option when it is offered up on the tool bar if you want to be sucessful and you do not know which account you last logged into at that URL that you have multiple accounts on.

I think this is clearly a problem with the multiple account same URL functionality of IdSafe and has nothing to do with the URL that you are at.

It is starting to look like to me that we have two main issues here and if you already know this then please accept my apologies. My goal is to make life easier for all and to alleviate some of the frustrations I see here. So here are my two cents worth.

The issues are as I perceive them now are:

1. IdSafe functionality problems with multiple accounts at same URL

2. Incompatibility issues between IdSafe and some login sites due maybe to the lack of a standard login protocol for login sites or non-compliance to an established standard login protocol from either end.

I have always been a proponent of design standards and getting to the root cause as it saves a lot of time, effort and reduces frustration. Life gets easier for everyone. Addressing symptoms, which is what it looks like to me here, is a waste of everyone's valuable time.

I am getting off my soap box now. :-)

Re: Multiple logins, same URL - doesn't work in Chrome

And now it's March 2017 and this has just stopped working on my computer under Chrome.  Some sites are OK  (Yahoo for one) but, for example, Facebook and eBay, no longer.  The former doesn't show the dropdown menu at all and only fills in one so I'm having to type alternative logins in and the latter does show the dropdown but doesn't fill in the details.

Facebook also doesn't work using IE but eBay does.  Anyone who's managed to fix this yet?  As I understand it, this problem's been intermittently occurring now for over 4 years.

Facebook is famous for changing things on their site. Sometimes the changes affect password managers.

You can report the site to the ID Safe team from your product.

From the Norton Toolbar in IE or Chrome, Navigate to the login page you are having problems with. Then click on Vault is Open on the Norton Toolbar. Then click on Options beside Current Site. From there click on Report an issue with this site. Then follow the directions.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Multiple logins, same URL - doesn't work in Chrome

Hi everyone - can you note some popular site examples where this happens, the version of product being used, and the browser type (Chrome / IE)?

For reference, Norton Identity Safe for Firefox won't have a connection to the Vault UI from a Norton product - you'd need to search for the Login in the Firefox extension UI and click it to launch the site.  The Firefox extension also defaults to always showing a list of multiple matching logins for a site and does not autofill any login information (unless overridden in the settings).

Thank you,

IS on Facebook working again, however Chrome (Version 56.0.2924.87) under Windows 10 still not working on eBay sites where I have multiple logons.  I can see the choices but no autofill initially and even when I select the correct logon from the dropdown, it doesn't show in the logon fields - see attached.

Even though it may not show in the login fields, does it still log you in when you click on one of the two eBay logins?
