Multiple notifications of browser plug-in being turned off

In the past 90 minutes, I have gotten 10 email notifications that the Chrome browser plug-in has been turned off on my son's computer.   Not only that, but in many of the emails, the computer is listed multiple times, like this:

The Norton Family browser plug-in was turned off on:

  • ******-PC_Win7(1) - chrome.exe
  • ******-PC_Win7(1) - chrome.exe
  • ******-PC_Win7(1) - chrome.exe
  • ******-PC_Win7(1) - chrome.exe
  • ******-PC_Win7(1) - chrome.exe

This plug-in will be turned back on automatically when you restart your browser. The following features require the plug-in:

  • Safe Searching
  • Social network monitoring
  • Video monitoring (Premier Members)

All other features including web monitoring and filtering can continue to work without the plug-in enabled.

Re: Multiple notifications of browser plug-in being turned off

Hi ssparker7,

When the Norton Family add-on is disabled (manually or automatically), the program still logs Web activities and blocks unwanted website.   It affects Social network monitoring & Video monitoring.

When the program detects the add-on is disabled, it sends an alert notification to the parent.  Please check the browser that your child uses to see if the add-on for Norton Family is enabled.  You can find it by clicking Tools -> Extentions in Chrome.

Thanks

Re: Multiple notifications of browser plug-in being turned off

Hi mahrens917,

When you get the message that add-on for the product is disabled on your child's machine,  please check the browser that your child uses to see if the add-ons for Norton Family is enabled.  You can find it at

Tools ->  Manage Add-ons in IE if IE is being used.

Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions in Firefox if Firefox is being used.

Go to chrome://extensions then Extensions in Chrome if Chrome is being used.

Can you please let me know why you want to disable the email notifications, so I can check with the team for the feature further?

Thanks

Katie

Thanks Katie
