It seems every Norton product requires auto renewal. Any way to avoid that?

Hi, Mel. No, no, and no ! Buy your Norton from a reputable shopfront/online retailer, and you will nearly always save money.
Most will provide a key online, so you can use that to activate your product.
I noticed that all the ones sold by Amazon require Auto Renewal. You can turn it off after install but is required at install.
....and since Norton Virus Protection Promise requires, as far as I know, that User is enrolled in Automatic Renewal before contacting Official Norton Expert regarding VPP. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v62458994
