Re: My Core is very HOT?

Hello Todd Indeed, Core shouldn't be so warm it cannot be touched. Make sure its not in the area of a heating vent/register and has adequate ventilation in the area where it's located. Make sure there aren't any other devices transmitting RF energy in close proximity to the Core as well. IE, phones, etc. One thing does come to mind, having your wireless devices all connected to the 2.4 side vice having your streaming devices strictly on the 5.0 side. Do you have those networks split and using them in that manner? You could possibly be risking radio burnout as well. Also what version firmware in on your Core? The latest should be version 223.

I would power down the Core and allow it to cool off, then assign the network as I stated above. See if things change.

Cheers

Hi,

After trying @SoulAsylum's suggestions, could you reply to my private message with your Norton Core serial number? Please check your inbox when you get a chance. Thanks.

Re: My Core is very HOT?

Hello Thank you for the info. I have the Core next to my TV no heat. I have the same name for both 2.5 and 5g wireless but my X Box is Cat5 connected the NETFLIX was streaming. That is the only time i have felt that heat come from it and today it is totally fine. Kinda crazy. The firmware is 171218_223 so i think it’s good. Do you think i should make two separate names for the wireless for the 2.5 and 5g sides? Thank you again for your help!!

Re: My Core is very HOT?

Todd move the Core at least 10-15 feet from the TV. That is a separate source of RF energy and will interfere with the Core. Heat isn't the issue but rather radio frequency radiation is the issue. Answering your network naming questions. Yes name the 2.4 and 5.0 separately and use separate passcodes.

Re: My Core is very HOT?

SoulAsylum I moved the Core to the top of my Oak entertainment center. It is approx 5ft away from the TV and a lot higher up. I will keep an eye on it and let everyone know. I also noticed a “burnt plastic” smell from it.... I have not noticed any issues and knock on wood won’t.. just though i would mention it. Thank you again for the help!!
