my norton

I have had NORTON for 14yrs its now NORTON 360 . The cost has increased considerably but I have gone along with it knowing I felt safe. My renewal is due in December, yet I am continually being told I should download more protection. I don't have a lot of family members sharing now just 2 of us. So I am wondering if I should look for some other protection?
Why is Norton always trying to get me to spend more money on new protection half way through my annual subscription. I can't afford to buy even more,
Any help would be gratefully received.
