My Norton (not working without Norton™ Family browser extension)

You know kids are smart these days

My 10 y.o. uninstalled Norton™ Family  browser Chrome extension, and gained access to facebook/instagram

But in settings "Social Network" is blocked, on top of that I've put them in Restricted Websites.

But they still can access to sites like facebook/instagram

I don't believe 10 y.o. kids are smarter than multimillion $ corporation.

Please advise !

Re: My Norton (not working without Norton™ Family browser extension)

Hi IURII,

User has privileges on the browser extensions in their computer and Norton Family cannot prevent it from being removed/disabled. Norton Family sends out an alert when the extension is disabled to have a discussion with your child and re-enable it again.

We tried navigating to Instagram and Facebook with and without browser extension in chrome and it does get blocked as expected.
Could you please try clearing the browser cache and check again?

If the issue still persists, we would be happy to set up a remote session.

Thanks,

Norton Family Team

Re: My Norton (not working without Norton™ Family browser extension)

Hi IURII,

Thanks for reaching Norton Family forums.

Norton Family browser extension is a prerequisite for the product to function completely and should not be removed or disabled. Please enable the Norton Family browser extension in all Norton Family supported browsers.

User has privileges on the browser extensions in their computer and Norton Family cannot prevent it from being removed/disabled.

However, In the event of the extension being removed or disabled by the child, Norton Family offers second layer of protection to safeguard the child as per the web supervision house rules configured. When the second layer of protection is enforced, child would see browser specific Internet access block page instead of Norton Family block page.

So with the second layer of protection, social networking sites like Facebook and Instagram would still be blocked except for the content in cache.

Thanks,

Norton Family Team

a) Don't you think it's silly way of protection, to tell my kids, he kids do not remove the browser extensions, because you won't get blocked, of course they will remove that

b) "second layer of protection to safeguard the child as per the web supervision house rules configured",

but if you examine my screenshot from the first post:

- The "Social Networking" is enabled

- Also I've added two sites in Restricted Websites (2) facebook.com/instagram.com

c) I need that solution ASAP

You can test it yourself, that none of layers are working
