On my PC when I turn on the VPN and try to search any thing on web, it returns "please check the spelling...."

I have bought norton 360 antivirus that support three devices. On my PC when I turn on the VPN and try to search any thing on web, it returns "please check the spelling...." and this is for every time. I have an extension 'safe search norton' on goole chrome. I am clueless why this is so. Earlier I used avast vpn and antivirus  and did not have such problem.

Before installing Norton, did you fully remove Avast using the removal utility here?   https://www.avast.com/en-ca/uninstall-utility

Have you tried removing Norton Safe Search extension from Chrome and changing Chrome default search engine to ...for example: Google

When you installed Safe Search, it probably changed your browser's default search engine. Go into your browser's settings and choose the search engine you wish to use.
