Need to Uninstall Norton AntiTrack - Terrible Produc

Same as most others on this thread.  After installing Norton AntiTrack my machine slowed down much.  My Norton 360 program slowed down so much, it took almost 10 minutes to initialize after launching from the desktop shortcut.  All the Norton 360 apps were slowed down also.  After uninstalling AntiTrack, all back to normal.

Pleased that I uninstalled AntiTrack, TERRIBLE Product.  Did Norton actually test this product before releasing?

Good observation. My PC has been experiencing similar symptoms over recent days, but this product wasn't in my line of fire, and just thought my pc was in need of defrag, housekeeping, or additional RAM. I shall test your theory and get back to you with my experience.

Before I uninstall AntiTrack, I'm going to switch back my default browser to Firefox, cos around the time I started experiencing the performance issues, I changed to Edge to address an app compatibility issue, and it seems that since doing that, my computer gone really s-l-o-w, and AntiTrack was the last application trying to startup before relinquishing control to the login screen. Coincidence? Hmm, unsure. Edge has had some updates over recent weeks, and we know that certain security products have close association with the file checksum, so with updates occurring, it may impact the performanceof AntiTrack. Now if I've changed my default browser while AntiTrack was tied to a default browser, is it possible that switching back to Firefox as default, will restore that connection, and improve performance again? Dunno, but I'm just putting it out to the universe and see what happens. Yes, AntiTrack may be the culprit, but the browser may be the root cause. If my performance miraculously improves, I think we have an issue.

Re: Need to Uninstall Norton AntiTrack - Terrible Produc

I installed AntiTrack today.  Since it was offered by Norton, I trusted it was what I needed to do.  Since the install, my computer is barely moving and some sites will not load.  After seeing this is a common problem, I will be uninstalling immediately.

Re: Need to Uninstall Norton AntiTrack - Terrible Produc

Ok, not to be defeated by some misbehaving software, since I paid for it, and don't expect to see a refund too soon. I uninstalled the product completely, performed all reboots to ensure computer was behaving properly, and ensured the notifications in browsers had been removed. Using only Firefox and Edge as my selected browsers, I installed AntiTrack on my PC through download available from Norton 360. Once installed, it showed me each of the 3 compatible browsers allowed, and their status, identifying each one as being configured or not configured, with an appropriate link to perform the configuration. Clicked Firefox link, and the Firefox browser launched, and eventually showed relevant page that AntiTrack was enabled. Returned to configuration page, and selected Edge, which launched Edge browser, eventually showing AntiTrack enabled. With 2 browsers configured, I closed all parent windows, and started testing. AntiTrack is like a firewall. You need to tell it what sites you trust. Using Firefox I went to my ebay site, the AntiTrack icon started showing trackers of my browser , and before I knew it, it showed 14 Trackers blocked. However, some of these may be legitimate trackers, so I had to take time to verify if I wanted to allow or block the trackers using the Once or Always options. Selecting Always allowed trackers to continue, and permits me to return to the Tracking and Fingerprinting page with AntiTrack to review the trackers and what i wanted done. It all worked perfectly, and my PC was running smoothly again. Yes, AntiTrack had slowed it down significantly, but that was because it was blocking everything, and in a firewall Scenario, thus is not recommended. This product does require substantial configuration, but once done, performs to spec. It's NOT a simple install and run application. It WILL cause your PC to s-l-o-w down because the default is to block everything. I have changes my mind about AntiTrack. It is preventing tracking, good and bad, it's just up to the user to ensure the good is configured to be tracked, and the bad is set to be blocked. So, follow the suggested installation and configuration steps, and keep it simple by initially using 1 browser until you get the hang of AntiTrack. It works. It IS value for money. Treat it like a firewall product. Watch the number of things that get blocked, and decide whether they are valid. From my observations, you need to be knowledgeable, patient, and insightful, with a spoonful of tenacity.

@Fishfinger
Welcome to Norton Community
Thank you for sharing your detailed/helpful Norton Ant-Track experience.  Before reading your share.  I've been curious what benefit Norton Anti-Track offers vs browser built-in Privacy/Tracking Protection.  Since, you've configured Firefox and Edge.  I'm curious what benefit Norton Anti-Track offers vs Firefox built-in "Enhanced Tracking Protection" and Edge "Tracking prevention".  I run Edge with Edge "Tracking prevention" -> Recommended.  I run uBlock Origin with Easy Privacy filter.  For example: Malwarebytes Browser Guard extension blocks some trackers.   AdGuard extension blocks trackers.
Edge & Firefox have configurable privacy.  Browser extensions offer configurable privacy.

In my mind.  I'm managing trackers without Norton Anti-Track.  I also block third-party cookies.
I may have to add an exception to Edge native "Tracking prevention".
I may have to allow tracker/s thru uBlock Origin.
I may have to configure Edge & uBlock Origin as needed to shop online or watch a video.

I'm curious what benefit Norton Anti-Track offers vs browser privacy solutions.
I'm thinking Norton Anti-Track like Edge & Firefox privacy functions will need to be tweaked and re-tweaked to achieve a daily balance between privacy protection and my preferred browser usage.

I can block everything to be privacy protected ...but, I may want to shop online or watch a video.

I'm thinking there are privacy solutions thru browser features and extensions.
I'm curious do you think Norton Anti-Track subscription is better privacy protection vs browser privacy solutions.  I'm curious do you think Norton Anti-Track is worth the annual subscription for 1 PC.

Respectfully submitted

Good thoughts! I must admit I didn't realise this was an annual subscription, but makes sense. I'm no expert in this field, but live by the mantra of 'observe and interpret', and having been in a server/desktop support role for past 20 years, I can only guess through trial and error, rather than having rules for each browser, keep it simple by having common rules through the AntiTrack common interface. But then, this is my guess, and in support, a guess is a good start, and then back it up with theory-based evidence. Sound feasible? At this point it works for me, and I'm happy to share my theories.

I'm happy to hear happy Anti-Track user.  All I was hearing were unhappy Anti-Track users.
