New toolbar/identity safe frustration

Why does the new toolbar/identity safe always have to open your list of sites after you login?  I login at the start of the session so it's open but I don't want to use it for anything so having it open just makes me form another operation to close it.  The older version just accepted the login and didn't do anything else except show it was open in the toolbar.  Also after I login it asks me every time if I want to switch to a cloud-based vault instead of staying local, I don't want to or I would have done this already, is there a way to turn off this annoying/intrusive pop-up?  It would also be very nice to be able to open our list of logins from a button in the toolbar instead having to click the vault and then have it show us our logins.

This new toolbar seems to be a step backwards in functionality for many of us as mentioned by others.  Or is this just a problem for those of us who are only using the local vault as a way to make us want to switch to the cloud?

Re: New toolbar/identity safe frustration

I agree.  AND it keeps asking me if I want to combine with cloud.  Am I missing someway to turn this off, I never want to save to the cloud?  It did finally stop crashing Firefox today after the update.

Re: New toolbar/identity safe frustration

Hi All,

First of all the "nag screen" to go to the cloud will be able to be turned off - after the next major update (as in an update that increments the version number - such as v 21.0 to v 21.1)  So that situation will be corrected and will be able to be avoided.

Now in regards to the full list of sites appearing - to some it is a pain and to others it is what they desire.  There were comments in the past about having to log in, click on the Vault Open and then select All Logins from the drop down n order to get to the log in you desire.  I also find it a bit of a pain, but I hav gotten into the habit of minimizing the list to the system tray and then it is redil;y available when I do need to use it.

Not much help I know!

Re: New toolbar/identity safe frustration

I agree with the criticism of the new vault:  It seems like it takes more clicks and longer to get logged into a site.

I like the old Identity safe much better because I could create a Quick Launch button that went straight to my vault- I didn't have to open IE first.  It also had a full drop down menu; the new toolbar menu doesn't have an 'All Logins' option.  Now if something isn't in the toolbar menu I have to open up the whole vault window.  In the vault window the login icon is way off to the side instead of being the main part of each listing.

To accomodate user preference it would be nice to be able to select the option of an old-style vault or the new version.  At minimum put an all logins option in the drop down toolbar menu.

I think there still is a problem with Firefox 24 compatibility.  Firefox will stop running for me with Norton toolbar 2914.5.1.4 enabled.  I disable it and firefox works without problems.  I'm running Vista.

I agree with this new having to log in at every session being a pain.  Much less I really don't want my vault floating around somewhere, I want it local.  It should be an option.  Seems to be software engineers designing things to their needs and wants.

Not so much a variety of customers.

Agree that the listing of all sites after entering password is a PIA!  At the very least they should have given us the ability to toggle displaying it on or off!

Re: New toolbar/identity safe frustration

Totally agree.

The new version is a step backwards:

- the popup of the list of site after login;

- the items in the drop-down site-list from the toolbar are to large;

- the window of the drop-down site-list from the toolbar is to small;

- the scrolling in the drop-down site-list from the toolbar is irregular;

- the annoying banner on top of the page after logging in on a site.

Do you wonder if Symantec is listening? We never hear from them. It seems they have joined the axis of evil. Microsoft, Google, Facebook and now Symantec. All ready to force crap onto us against our will. What ever happened to choice? I say again, is Symantec even listening, many of us simply don't want nor trust the online vault. Have you noticed all these companies want us to be logged in so they can track our every move. I truly believe all of the cloud hype is about tracking us to target ads at us. I don't know, maybe I need to loosen my tinfoil hat but I just don't trust the cloud and the companies promoting it.

Don't know if Symantec is listening.

The only thing I do know is that when I'm not satisfied with a product and there is something else that is good and I like they might have one customer less.

I don't know if Symantec cares
