NF.exe can be killed

I was playing around with norton family. I'm interessting in the time limit feature. It seems my child can easily disable norton family.

There is an NF.exe process with is running as "my child" user. So my child can kill the process. After the process was killed 4,5 times the prozess will not recreated and the child has no time limits until restart.

I think it's a bug and it makes norton family useless.

Areman

Re: NF.exe can be killed

Hi areman,

Can you please let us know

1. what operating system is running on the child's device?

2. if your child's Windows account with Administrative rights or limited rights?

Thanks

Katie

Re: NF.exe can be killed

WinXP SP 3.

My child has no admin rights. Admin Rights are not required, because the nf.exe is running with my childs user and not with the user I used to install norton family.

Re: NF.exe can be killed

Hi areman,

With limited rights, the child can kill the user process alone but not system process. If a child kills users process more than 4 times(First 3 times it’ll restart at once), user process will start after 15 minutes or if the machine gets reboot in between it’ll get start.

Thanks

Katie

Thanks Katie
