NIS '12 Help System improvements.

Hi.

I like the NIS Help Facility, which is Cloud based, since product Help data can be updated on the fly.

However, being Cloud based, it has limitations. For example.

1) The page has to load and be rendered - causing additional wait time.

2) How can you access the Help, if you are disconnected from the Internet?

There is one more annoying thing - if I visit the same help web page, I am asked to participate in a survey. I decline and the next visit to the same Help website - it reappears. Yaaaah!

@vivesku -

This post was not a suggestion, but indicative of a issue.

Any ideas on the Help facility and stopping the Survey?

Thanks.

Re: NIS '12 Help System improvements.

The survey is not malicious and there fore has nothing to do with Norton.  Enable a popup blocker.  Microsoft help isn't available either if you are offline.

Web pages take time to load for whatever reason.  It may be that a search has to happen in the cloud for the specific help page.  Microsoft also takes time to load a help file.

Just the opposite experience.  I accept > fill requested info > never receive survey.  Go figure

Not the ideal solution, but it works! Thanks.

I agree with Atomic_Blast.  There is a big distinction between an "Enhancement Request" and a "Bug Report".

In the one case you are requesting improvement of an existing product, and in the other case you are reporting a suspected error in the existing product.  These are two completely different things and are ordinarily dealt with by two completely different teams within Software Development  or Technical Support departments.

Hi Symantec:

Kindly advise on the status of this post, i.e. Under Consideration, etc.

Thanks.

Re: NIS '12 Help System improvements.

Clear cookie (alt+shift+delete in most browsers or Ctrl+t+d in Internet Explorer) and the survey request will reappear. Also see my sig requesting an offline/online help system.
Norton Internet Security 2012, Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit, Internet Explorer 9Please support my ideas to have an offline/online help system similiar to Microsoft Office help or Windows help for Norton products.
