NIS2008- Symantec Resource Protector- Alerts

I have not done the upgrade (NIS2008 to NIS2009) yet, but have a question before I do.

Can you tell why I get these Alerts, They started when I upgraded from (NIS2007 to NIS2008)

Re: NIS2008- Symantec Resource Protector- Alerts

Just my opinion follows-

Symantec completely reworked LiveUpdate in NIS 2009.  So the error you are seeing in NIS 2008 will not be relevant if you perform the free upgrade to NIS 2009.  The error you are seeing "could be" from not using the Norton Removal Tool when you upgraded from NIS 2007 to NIS 2008...something in NIS 2007 did not get uninstalled correctly.

You can also remove Norton AntiBot because NIS 2009 incorporated several key features of AntiBot.

If you decide to upgrade.

1.  Download the latest version of NIS 2009 from the Symantec site.

http://www.symantec.com/redirects/norton/norton_com/nis09/

2.  Download the Norton Removal Tool

http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

3.  Uninstall Norton Antibot and reboot

4.  Uninstall NIS 2008 and reboot

5.  Run the Norton Removal Tool and reboot

Note:  If you have any other Norton products on your computer, the NRT will remove them.

6.  Install NIS 2009.

-  NIS 2009 has Antispam for emails incorporated in it.  The Addon Pack is not needed for Antispam.

-  Unless you use Parental Control and/or Privacy Control, you do not need the NIS 2009 Addon Pack

You should end up with Version 16.1.0.33 of NIS 2009.

This is correct. I don't know why you got these messages but I'm sure you won't get them with this upgrade
