No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi! Since a few days ago my Safe Web icons have vanished from both Google and Bing search results. I tried disabling/enabling Safe Web in Settings but it didn't help. All Norton plugins report to be enabled and I have no idea why the problem persists.

Hi TheUserOfTheWeb,

It would help us to try to help you if you told us something more, such as:

● OS

● Browser/s (if you use more than one, please specify if the safe web icons are missing whichever you use)

● Which Norton product and version (main UI > Support > About)

Thanks.

That would be IE11 on Win 8 and NIS 2014.

While you disabled and reenabled Safe Web, did you restart your computer between changes to ensure the changes took affect?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Yes, I restarted the computer. I checked some things mentioned in the above threads but nothing worked so I guess it must be a bug.

Hi,

NIS 2014 doesn’t say which version you are running. Norton changed their system of identifying their products by dropping the year and going strictly by the version number about two years ago if I remember correctly.

As said in my earlier post, please check it in GUI > Support > About.

The current version is 21.2.0.38. If you have an earlier version maybe updating it can solve the problem.

You can update  from within NIS > Support > New Version Check (or Check for New Version from NIS icon in the systray). When finished, run LiveUpdate a few times, rebooting as requested, until you see the message “LiveUpdate finished – No updates found”.  At the end I’d reboot a last time as it never hurts…

In case you use Identity Safe, export your data in both .csv and .dat formats prior to updating, just as a precaution.

Please let us know how things go.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Hi, also if you're using Google, go to Settings and under Search Settings, select Never show Instant Results, as that sometimes helps to display the icons properly.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Thx for your replies. The version in question is 21.2.0.38. I also tried changing Google settings but it didn't resolve the issue. I remember having a similar issue in the past and the solution I found then was reinstalling everything. xD I might end up doing that anyway.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Is this happening only with IE 11 ? Icons are showing for me both in IE and Firefox, however I'm using IE 10 as there have been a few problems for some IE 11 users.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

I only checked it in IE11 since it's the only browser installed on that computer.

Is Enhanced Protected Mode unchecked in Internet Options/Advanced ?

You couuld also disable Smart Filter, to see if the icons return.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Yes, EPM is disabled and toggling Smart Filter doesn't change anything. I tried resetting advanced settings and restarting the computer but to no success.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

Have you also unchecked Enable 64 bit processes for EPM ? That ensures IE runs in 32 bit mode.

Re: No Safe Web icons in search results

I tried that too. Well, I think NSW icons are gone for now so I installed another website-reputation app.
