The only security I have installed is Norton Internet Security.

I have unistalled and reinstall NOF many times but still not working.

In fact I have one account where i blocked all categories i see the
paw icon in the icon tray saying it is enabled but I can type any url
in IE and it brings up the site.

eg url
www.norton.com        ( category technology      ????)
www.hadleigh4u.org ( category Uncategorized   ???? )

Re: NOF does not block any url

Hi Badger12,

Do you have any other parental control products on the PC?   If you have multiple parental control programs enabled on the PC, it might interfere with the performance of Norton Online Family.

Also, please make sure the Parental Controls option under Control Panel in Windows 7 is Disabled on the PC. Click on Start Button  and select the option Control Panel, There you can find the option Parental Controls. Under that one, you can find whether you have enabled the Parental Control for your child's User Account. Please Disable it.

Thanks,

Katie

I do not have any parent control software installed.  I have checked the win7  Parental Controls on all the accounts and it is disabled. Any other ideas? Thanks

Re: NOF does not block any url

HI badger12,

1. Have you tried to see what happens if you use Firefox?

2.  Do you see any activities recorded at Activity -> Web?

3.  What version of Norton Internet Security do you have?

Thanks

Katie

Re: NOF does not block any url

The answers to your questions are:

1. I have just installed firefox and again no site is blocked when they should all be

2. When I goto Activity->Web I only see blocked site www.softwaretime.com but
nothing else - when there should be

3. Norton Internet Security version is 18.6.0.29

As regard www.softwaretime.com :

I have noticed that when I log onto the account where all catorgisers are blocked
I get a Norton Safety Minder dialog in the botton left corner with the message
"Norton Safety Minder is running ......"

then followed by other Norton Safety Minder dialog in the botton left corner with the message
"House rule do not allow you to go to
http://www.softwaretime.com
This is a technology website....
"

I have Computertime from http://www.softwaretime.com installed on my machine.
Now if I goto IE and type http://www.softwaretime.com it is not disabled
and in fact no site is disabled.

Any ideas?

Re: NOF does not block any url

Badger12,

I understand you said you only have NIS installed on the PC, but  please double check the link below where shows the security products that the program is not compatible with.  If the program used to be working, but not now, it's very possible that some security product(s) got installed on the PC.

Re: NOF does not block any url

I have checked the list and computertime is not on the list. It is not a security product but a product that gives time to users on log in.

I have now uninstalled both Computertime and NOF and I am trying to install NOF again but am running into problems:

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and after a reboot - I log back in.

But this time I get a "Norton Download Manager" dialog with the message
"NOF Click retry to continue your install" and if I click retry it tries to uninstall again
and reboots and prompts me again and I go round again in circles after each reboot.

Also it leaves a "norton download Manager" Icon in the icon tray

Badger12,

Could you post a screen shot of the message here?

Re: NOF does not block any url

I have found the source of the problem why I get the message "NOF Click retry to continue your install" on login.

I install by downloading the installer each time and therefore in the directory C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton there are many copies of the installer which I think caused the installer to get confused.

If I deleted the directory C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton then I nolonger got repeated messages asking me to retry

Thanks
