Norton™ Utilities Ultimate vs Premium

I would like an answer/information, not in a need of a solution as yet and I do not know if I am in the right Topic area for my question, since Norton Utilities is not a selection from the drop down menu about the difference between Norton Utilities Ultimate and Premium...I have  read support for Norton Utilities ended on September 30, 2020.

...I went from Norton Security Premium 7 Dec 2020, to Norton360...and I also have Norton Utilities Premium v21.4.5.428 that expires 1/1/2050.

Then when running Norton360 Smart Scan - I receive this message "Fast Write has prevented 13329087 file fragments since the last system startup" which I have disabled Fast Write, also that I have issues with System Registry (Windows 10 Version 21H2 - OS Build 19044.1620)

Can someone enlighten me Please on the difference between Ultimate & Premium ?

My 2 Cents Too Many facets of Norton, with Password Identity Protection Vault, Smart Scan vs Utilities, becomes a little overwhelming...why not include all in Norton360  FYI, I have been a User of Symantec Norton for over 20 yrs.

Re: Norton™ Utilities Ultimate vs Premium

After trying out Norton Utilities Ultimate and deciding to let it expire, I had continued using my Norton Utilities Premium and Norton 360 just fine when I recently started getting what I'd call a deceptive pop-up telling me that "New Norton Utilities Premium updates are available" and offering me the choice to "Install" or "Close".  I figured it was just what it said,  an update to Norton Utilities Premium, so I chose "Install".  Unfortunately, that instead installed Norton Utilities Ultimate, which requires an annual subscription fee in addition to the Norton 360 annual subscription fee.  Norton did not make it easy for me to return to using Norton Utilities Premium.  See my post here:

Unfortunately, that instead installed Norton Utilities Ultimate

Just an FYI. Norton now uses only one download for Norton Utilities Premium and Ultimate. The product that gets activated is determined by the product key you enter.  Get your product key from your Norton Account and then in your Norton Utilities product click on the Help '?' icon and then click About Norton Utilities. Then click on change key and enter your Premium key to activate that level of subscription.

Re: Norton™ Utilities Ultimate vs Premium

@peterweb, thanks for that information.  Now, my Norton Utilities Premium is version 17.0.5.701 .

1.  Are there or will there be newer versions of that product?

2.  If so, will they be automatically installed, or do I need to do that manually?

3.  How should I respond to the pop-up stating that "New Norton Utilitles Premium updates are available"?  Do I need to regularly click "Install" on that pop-up, let it install Norton Utilities Ultimate, and then change that product's key to the one for my Norton Utilities Premium?

Re: Norton™ Utilities Ultimate vs Premium

  1. Not really sure. I have the Ultimate version installed and the version is 21.4.5.428.
  2. If you click on the Help "?", you will see an option to Check for Updates. The product will not update on its own. But if you do not check soon enough, you will see the Update Available message where you can install the update.
  3. Again, I'm not sure if you will have to enter the product key again after an update. But at least you now know what you need to do.
