Norton 12 for Mac LiveUpdate schedule not available

I just installed 12 for Mac and noticed that there is not a setting for scheduled LiveUpdates as there is not the option available anymore. I wanted to cofirm that the Latest LiveUpdates will be downloaded automaticaly constantly? and yes I have all the settings for Automatic Prottection turned to on.

There is a specific Forum for Norton and Mac  --- Norton for Mac -- so I'll ask for your message to be moved over there or better exposure. You won't lose sight of it because a link will be left here.

Yes, LiveUpdate runs fairly often in the background to check for updates.  If you need to know the exact frequency I'll need to check, but it's several times per day.

First and foremost, thank you to Lee_G and MIkeRomo for your commitment and support of this forum and product.

Some NAV 12 for Mac product feedback - The ability to schedule/disable LiveUpdates was a valued product feature.

As a remote user that is typically tethered to a cell or utilizing a Wi-Fi hotspot, then having an uncontrollable update take place over a slow or expensive data connection, is not a desirable occurrence.

On the positive side, I have evaluated red, yellow and green (and a few others) products for the Mac and once again yellow wins. So far Symantec has proven to be OS X 10.7.2 (Lion) compatible with the least amount of issues. Others are still working out performance and feature bugs on-the-fly, while Symantec seems rock solid out of the box.

On my product matrix, I had to remove a check in the update scheduling box. I sure wish I could put it back in the column.

Actually there is a way to schedule the new LiveUpdate, but we didn't expose the UI for it because not many people wanted it and we focused on streamlining the UI some.

I'll try to get the process for scheduling LiveUpdate documented soon.

Thanks for the feedback.

Issues like this is why Symantec/Norton needs to include the option of simple or expert mode. Simple would hide all except the basic needed functions, while expert would allow the user access to all functions to allow maximum tweaking.
