Norton 360 backup

The backup tool was backing up to a separate drive on the PC.  Had to reinstall windows and now the backup tool will not recognize that there are backup files on the separate hard drive.  Need to restore some critical files.

Is the "separate drive" an internal physical drive (not the boot drive)?  Or, an external drive?

You need to map your external drive to a drive letter in Windows Explorer for Norton to be able to recognize the drive as an available option.  (credit peterweb)

After installing Norton 360 ... start the Restore process from the Norton 360 Backup feature. In the Restore From section, click on View All and you should see your old backup set listed. Choose that backup set. Then in the Files section, check the Restore All Files and Categories option. Then in Restore to, you can choose to restore to the original locations/folders, or you could create a separate temporary folder and restore all files there. Then you can move them around where you want on the new system.  (credit peterweb)

Note: after reinstalling Norton.  You'll need to re-create your backup sets.

Re: Norton 360 backup

Find missing files or backup sets when restoring them from a local storage media with Norton

Depending on your backup destination, follow the instructions to restore the files.

  • If you want to restore files from an Optical disk, use Norton Autorun Restore to restore the files.

  • If you want to restore files from an internal drive or an external drive, use Portable Restore Tool to restore the files.
