Norton 360 compare to Internet Security and Utilities

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, if not please direct me where. THank you. I brought Norton 360 yesterday and I'm enjoying it. It was recommended by a Staples employee and I had been using McAfee from Contast. I was just looking around today and comparing other products and was wondering. If it was a waster of money to buy internet security and/or Utilities programs to cover the places that 360 doesn't. I'm on cable internet and would like to be able to tune my pc to better performance and as best of internet security as possible since I'm on cable internet. When I'm home from work the computer is on but when I'm at work it is off but I'm not sure if anyone could still into my computer. I wonder if the products would start causing problems with each other since there is some areas that 360/internet security/Utilities covers the same area.

Thank you!

Stephanie

Re: Norton 360 compare to Internet Security and Utilities

Hi Stephanie,

You can read this thread over here:

http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&thread.id=64281

Also, you can consult this comparison chart (it lists NAV, NIS, Norton 360 and Norton Utilities) over here:

http://www.symantec.com/norton/products/charts/comparison.jsp?pcid=mp

Because there is some overlap of the computer maintenance features between Norton 360 and Norton Utilities, the recommended combination would be Norton Internet Security 2010 and Norton Utilities.

Re: Norton 360 compare to Internet Security and Utilities

Hi Stephanie

If you have N360, then you do not need NIS 2010 also. N360 I believe would cover just about all areas of protection. Since you had McAfee previously, I hope you removed McAfee using add/remove and then their removal tool to get a clean install of N360.

Hi Stephanie,

One thing I would add is that if you find you might like NIS better after looking through the feature comparison, etc you could always choose to switch to NIS when your current N360 subscription is about to run out. But in the meantime N360 is a great product also.

As Floplot said hopefully you uninstalled McAfee before installing N360.

Re: Norton 360 compare to Internet Security and Utilities

I should have been more clear in my previous post and added that it is recommended to use either only Norton 360 or Norton Internet Security + Norton Utilities.

For future reference: to thoroughly uninstall McAfee, you can obtain the McAfee Removal Tool and instructions from this link:

Re: Norton 360 compare to Internet Security and Utilities

Thank you! Ok, I'll I will keep my 360 at least until the subscription runs out. Oh, I did use add/remove but I didn't know I should use a unstall tool. Ok, do I need to uninstall 360, use the unstall tool for McAfee and then reinstall 360 or am I ok just to use the uninstall tool on McAfee?

Re: Norton 360 compare to Internet Security and Utilities

If everything is running smoothly and you are not experiencing any problems with your Norton 360, then there is no need to run McAfee removal tool.

However, after your Norton 360 expires and you want to switch to another Norton product, then it is recommended that you run the Norton Removal Tool 2-3 times, rebooting after each run, to remove Norton 360, and you can also run the McAfee removal tool just to be as certain as possible.

Note: The Norton removal Tool will delete any other Norton products installed on your machine and will also wipe out your settings. Do not forget to back up your Identity Safe data before removing Norton:
