Norton 360 error 8504 & 104 rerecurring

I've been using Norton 360 for a long time and not too long ago I noticed Norton hadn't started with the computer.

I got the error messages 8504 & 104. I followed the instructions (I was redirected to the Norton website to reinstall the product).

The fix worked for two boots. Now whenever I boot my PC Norton doesn't start [task manager shows Norton running but there is no tray icon and no way to access the GUI] and I have to restart my computer for it to run on startup.

Hopefully these are the instructions you followed.

Additional info would be helpful - Operating System, version of N360 (Help/Support > About from the main page of N 360), default browser and also if Fast Startup is enabled/disabled if you are running Win 8 or WIN 10.

Also check installed programs and see if there is an entry for Norton Identity Safe in addition to N360.

Yes those are the instructions.

Version of Norton 360: 22.6.0.142

I'm running Windows 10 Pro (64 bit), default web browser is Firefox (although after running the Norton Removal Tool it opened Internet explorer), I don't have a account on the Id Safe, I don't know if Fast Startup is enb/disab

I also don't see Norton 360 listed in the startup programs

Hi, User1868. Here is info on disabling Fast Startup, as it is known to cause problems.

Also, Windows 10 needs to be completely shut down for Norton to correctly operate.

Try these options, and let us know if it helps.

If not you may want to try the Norton Removal Tool again, https://www.norton.com/nrt

and then download a fresh preactivated copy from your Norton Account for a clean install.

If that works, then run Live Update until no more are found, and reboot.

Seems like disabling Fast Startup solved the problem, thanks for the help 

I think the problem was that Norton wasn't in the Hiberfile ( http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/4189-fast-startup-turn-off-windows-10... )

Norton would have been in the Hibernate file, it is just that it needed to be updated. The only way some Windows system or program files can be updated is to have the computer fully shut down and restarted. Disabling the Fast Startup feature allows this to happen.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
