Norton 360 PREMIUM

Hello. My subscription was ending and I wanted to renew it. Renewal was a little bit expencive for me so I decided not to renew and lokk for another product. However, Notron has offered my renewal at a lower price and I decided to accept offer.

I have paid renewal before my first year has ended (about 45,00 EUR). After my first year has ended, my supscription is not working anymore and I can't use the product that I have paid.

I tried to contact customer support via chat but I keep talking to a virtual agent who can't help me.

If anyone has had this problem, please help.

I was on Norton 360 last year and offered Norton Security this year which I accepted.  Can I delete  Norton 360 from my hard drive and all previous downloads?  As I wish to reduce unnecessary items taking up space.

Thank you.

What exact version of Norton Security were you offered? Or did you accept a free upgrade offer that installed a product that just shows Security on the UI? Norton 360 is the current offering for a security product. My 360 just shows Security in the classic interface, but it does have all the features of 360.

You are always free to remove any downloaded installers. If needed, you should always just log into your Norton Account and download and install the latest version of your product.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

It was Norton Utilities Ultimate.  It was offered as an alternative to Norton 360 as  I really only need to protect my  laptop with W7, as my tablet & desktop W10 have built in protection, and I had paid a 3 figure sum the previous  year  for protecting far more computers than necessary.  I have been into my control panel with the intention of deleting Norton 360 as hopefully then, I will stop getting reminders telling me I  am no longer protected.  But I wanted to be absolutely sure It was OK to do this.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Norton Utilities Ultimate, NUU, is not an alternative to Norton 360. It has no AV features. It is, as its name implies, a collection of utilities to help maintain your system. So the messages about not being protected are correct. NUU is not protecting you against malware or dangerous web sites.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

I'm shocked!  Why would this have been offered  to me then?  And what can I do about it?

Kudos0

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

You say this happened last year, so you would be beyond the 60 day refund window. You will have to get an AV subscription to protect your device.

If your current 360 subscription just recently expired, you should just renew, or purchase a new subscription at a better price.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

It was only renewed in June 2022.  I think Norton have failed me here - why would I not be offered protection?

Kudos0

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Was it your 360 subscription, or the NUU subscription that you purchased in June?

When you were offered the 'upgrade' to NUU, did you have to pay a subscription fee for that? Was that the June payment?

When did you last renew your 360 subscription?

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Please try to edit your last post to remove your email address and order number.

That order is just for the NUU.

If you only recently started getting the unprotected notices, your 360 would have just expired recently. So you would have been protected up to the expiry date. Do you still have 360 installed on that system? What message is displayed if you try to open it?

At this time I would suggest finding a good price online for a Norton 360 subscription. As for the NUU subscription, there is not much you can do now except make sure you have turned off Automatic Renewal for that subscription in your Norton Account.

Thank you for removing the information.  i was uncertain about how much info you would need.

Can I purchase Norton360 without it conflicting with NUU?

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Well I tried to purchase Norton 360, and all seemed to be proceeding as normal, payment accepted, after receiving a code on my telephone.  Then told 'something has gone wrong'.  So no idea what the situation is now.

EDIT:  This is what I am getting when I try to complete the purchase:

'The connection to api.bounceexchange.com is not secure'

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Norton 360 will not conflict with NUU.

Where did you try to purchase your 360? Directly from Norton, or from a retailer?

Did you get the product key on your phone, and you are just having difficulty downloading the product? If you are just having difficulty downloading the product, you can try downloading the installer directly from Norton at    www.norton.com/cspn360

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

i went through the Norton site to purchase Norton 360.  I clicked on the 'Products & Services' at the top of this page.  The code sent was to verify I was the holder of the credit card.  And although this was verified, when I tried to complete the purchase I was unable to.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

I would suggest you contact Norton Support to have them help with the purchase.   www.norton.com/contactcs   If using the chat option, when you get to enter any information, enter "agent please". That should bypass all the bot replies.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Thank you for your help Peter, and a good tip to enter 'agent please'.  I have now purchased & downloaded Norton 360, but wondering how useful NUU is?  I don't need any unnecessary space being used up on my laptop by not needed programs.

I know a couple of years ago, I was warned that my email address had been seen on the dark web, but not the p/w, although I changed it anyway.  Now i have received this warning again, (from Norton) although I think it is referring to the previous warning. When I follow the link in the email, I get this -  The connection to url8018.lifelock.com is not secure.  What should I do?

Kudos0

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

You have paid for the NUU subscription, and are beyond any refund window, so it is your call if you want to use it for the year, or write off that subscription money and remove it.

The browser message is similar to one I get every so often in my Chrome browser. Others here might have more information on what causes this message to appear.   As the URL ends in lifelock.com, it is a legitimate site for a link from your Norton product. So if there is a link to go to the site, you would be safe to do so.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Yes I do use Chrome, seemed odd that when using Norton safe search, that particular site had the Norton green tick, yet then warned me that the site was dangerous.

I will keep the NUU, but wonder how effective it is against malware?  I use it everyday on both laptop & desktop and there are always files that need clearing out, but just how effective is it?

One of the PCcleaner site I was considering signing up to, analyzed my computer and alerted me to a dangerous file, maybe a selling technique?  I didn't sign up as I know there are free ones.  But just what do I need to keep my computers safe?

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

The browser message is not saying the site is not safe. It is just not using a secure web protocol, which might cause a security risk. Usually there is no problems using these sites. Here is some information from Digicert, a company that supplies the security certificates for web sites.

NUU does nothing for device security. It just has utilities to help clean up the garbage that gets collected on a Windows system. The files getting cleaned up depend on your settings, but are usually temporary files use by Windows and apps you use. ie Temporary internet files from your use of your browser, temporary files created if you download a file from the internet, files in your Recycle Bin.

Definitely use caution for any PC cleanup site you visit. As you suggested, they will always find issues on your system. Or at least they will report they found things. No way to even know if they actually scanned you system. Often the things they find are just temporary files which are totally innocuous. Definitely a selling technique (scam).

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

I wonder if you would mind if I asked another question.

I'm still looking to delete unwanted programs and I have 6 versions of Symantic autodetect, dating from 2018 to 2022.  Can I delete previous versions?

Kudos0

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

You should be able to remove older versions of the same products/files. To make sure, you could try renaming the files with adding a .old to the name. Test for a few days to see if you have any problems. If not go ahead and delete them.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

I have downloaded Norton 360 onto my desktop & laptop and using it, so I know it is installed.  So why am I receiving this email?

INSTALL NOW

We noticed you purchased a Norton 360 membership, but haven't installed protection on any devices yet. Please take a moment to download and install it now. Until you do this, you don't have protection online.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

You might want to check your subscriptions in your Norton Account to make sure you do not have more than one active subscription. When you purchased from the Norton Support, did you point out that you already had a subscription?

It sounds like you had an existing subscription and when Norton Support set up the new purchase, it was set up as a separate subscription. As your existing subscription was still active, the new subscription was not activated on any devices. So that would explain the emails you are getting.

Log into your Norton Account and hover your cursor over the user icon at the top right, then click on Manage My Subscriptions. Look through your current subscriptions and if you have more than one 360 subscription that is still not active, you need to contact Support again and ask them to combine the two.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

I have chatted with support and I'm told that I am receiving that email because my subscription covers 5 devices and I have only used 2.

Kudos0

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

That could be what is happening. I occasionally get a similar email and I have used 10 of 10 activations.

Re: Norton 360 PREMIUM

Ah - thanks for that Peter, I'll just delete them in future then.
